Didn’t the guy who created Star Saber worked on Gundams or was heavily inspired by it? I remember SS’s design was tied to Gundam somehow, I’m just drawing a blank right now.

God damn, what a cool design. I want this, but transforming, and then you can have all my money.

This is giving me the same issues I have with Drift. I want it but it's just so Japanese I can't pull the trigger. I'm really not a fan of Gundam and overly Japanese inspired styles. Which seems to be a lot of the high end TF 3rd party collectibles.

And then it moved to the west and gained a bunch of new fans through different styles.

    Indeed!
    Star Saber
    "Let's say, GO!"

"This popular Japanese original character joined the ranks of Masterpiece Transformers toys as the direct result of a fan poll. Star Saber stands out among his peers, thanks to his connection to world-famous mechanical designer, Kunio Okawara! That's right, the man who created such iconic giant robots like the original RX-78 Gundam, the Scopedog, and Gaogaigar was also responsible for the dynamic new leader in Transformers Victory. Because of this, Star Saber is probably the most well-realized entry in the Masterpiece line, as he was designed to be both a toy and a character from the get-go."

Is it wrong of me to want a 3P to take a stab at a better version? maybe a KO with more ratchets and darker reds and blues, maybe more details? Still I love the original MP.. I just wish it had some minor changes.. namely more ratchets and the color and feel of the plastic.

I mean I can see why this guy is popular. He's really a great successor to OP, more so then RP.
But then again Star Saber never had the Matrix of Leadership did he..so Ole' Rodimus has him there..I suppose. Or Maybe Star Saber was so badass, he didn't need it.

Hmmm.. Maybe I'll use this as his Matrix Upgrade form??

but Transformers originated from Japan and had its roots in the manga and anime mecha genre with the Diaclone and Micro-change toys, so what makes a robot design not Japanese? you want Optimus Prime to look like RD-D2 which is the only logical answer to your demand, hell why are you a TF fan if you hate Japanese design aesthetics which is their origins in the first place? even western artists like the IDW staff took their own TF designs inspired from Japanese media.

God that's the definition of sexy in plastic form.

Also why tf is victory leo there? He was never a character in the IDW-verse.

....is that a TRANSFORMING Victory Leo? I thought FlameToys stuff was only allowed because they didn't transform.

Looks like the only thing he does is break apart into armor pieces. And look good. Really good. Holy shit.

I love it, very GaoGaiGar-esque. An improvement over the original from Victory if I say so myself.

Also on display are the accessories, including an alternate Saber head.

Purify it with my money and wallet :p

So how much would this one be? $300 range perhaps

I wonder if there's a 4th party of this statue to bring the price down.

I don't care for Star Saber however this looks so amazing. I've already pre-ordered their Tarn so the temptation is definitely there......
