I wonder how the quality compares to the encore devastator? That was a pretty fresh looking toy but did feel quite light compared to the vintage and it uses that poor quality chrome that scuffs very easily, hoping its at least the same as encore and no extra corners cut.

 

Not to mention, it's an odd comment since the Encore release had the vintage Japanese boxart and layout while this one has the North American one.

 

I have plenty of original G1 and reissue Transformers on hand. However I only want SS! I have already have Devy and BB.

 

I'm all in for both Devastator and Starscream even though I still plan on hunting down both Encores (because I be like that.) I like how that Devastator feels a lot like Takara's Encore/2001 reissues but Hasbro style.
Also I REALLY hope that that Starscream is coming with the Collection fists and Megatron gun. That alone would make it one of the most worthwhile reissues Hasbro's ever done and I say this having the Commemorative, Collection, and 2001 Takara reissue.
I kind of hope Hasbro considers doing some of the Takara only figures as well at some point if they're doing this though or the find a way to finally give the US the OG Overlord. Either way this is pretty cool.
Not sure how to feel about the carded samples though. I really don't like how Hasbro seals their cards.

 

Walmart reissues? I'll never see these at my walmart...

So, are these boxes any different than the prior G1 reissues?

Depends on where you lived in 1984. If you lived in Canada, then they are the same. If not, the are different by way of bilingual packaging. And no offense to our French speaking folks, but that's the only part of the box that really bothers me*.


*we won't talk about the lack of rounded corners on the box flap.

And the OG G1 releases had rounded corners on the top edges of the box flap. These new ones have sharp corners.
