    Oh dude, thats super tough.
If I remember correctly your bambino is less than a year old right? Sounds like a lot of pressure at home. I don't know if its applicable, but its quite a common story for dads to spend so long worrying about their partners well being, they forget about their own. The recent focus in our care systems on Maternal Mental Health is really cool and long overdue but fathers' MH is still really over looked. If it sounds at all like your situ, it might be worth looking at how to make sure you're taking care of yourself too. Transformers can be expensive so its true its not always a viable option in my life to constantly buy more without selling some first or putting it on hold sometimes. Its certainly a shame you have to miss a social occasion that you were looking forward to though. Maybe chat to the missus? it might be worth explaining how important it is purely as a chance to get out for a bit with your own friends.

TRU DAT! I miss Bamber. :(
I don't think I can let go, Mr. B, I need a Waverider suit, and I'm eyeballing Submarauder & Bludgeon and thinking Iguanus or Thunderwing conversion might be possible. Though ideally I need more 'Bots to even the score!
I'm loving dat robot mode but I think I'm gonna need a faux roof sticker from Toyhax because it looks very much like he's got a G1 Lightspeed-style car canopy going on.

I am so annoyed for you mate. I can't understand this and to be honest I think I would take myself off to TFN anyway. You don't have to spend the weekend together. If she gets upset, you can observe that she created the situation. Then again I'm talking without understanding your situation or relationship dynamics.

But I also don't understand why your missus wouldn't be in favour of you going and having fun or would feel like she has a case to make in you not going?

I told my wife that i wanted to go and it was important to me, but if she had strong objections we could talk about them. She said "no problems, you go and have fun, and even if I did have objections it's not my place to stop you living your life and doing stuff you want to". Same as I treat her when she has things she wants to do. If it's a thing that involves both of us then we chat about it and usually agree that we should go/not go but support each other as much as we can. 'cos adults and that.

If you tell her you do you and I'll do me what is her likely objection to that?

Thats a blast from the past! I remember Bamber Bamboozle and sometimes one of his family members would host in his place. You could cheat easily on that game, the mistake page was the same number so if you press all the buttons quickly you could see which one was right

@jame5y Gutted to hear that... The OH and I decided to share a calendar between us which we always consult before making arrangements. Took a while to get used to but works a treat. Plus if one of us fancies a little time by ourselves we know exactly when the other has something planned and can book accordingly.

I feel you dawg. Not with the Prime Masters, I don't get them. But knowing me, I'll realise what you know in a couple of years and spend my time obsessing over them at a later date.
But the battle masters just don't seem that fresh. I think its because we've been basically getting Target masters for years. Obviously there were the minicons. Then Arms Micron dudes ( I had loads of those lil critters). Then a few of the Legends guys had weapon modes, like Powerglide I think? Plus Takara LG packaged all their gang with really cool looking Target Masters

I actually don't mind the scruffy scuffed shins on him, he's supposed to be a bruiser. But if the line does a Sunstreaker they should totally do a Venkman-at the-end-of-Ghostbusters by having just a tiny token bit of battle wear on an otherwise pristine deco though! :p

Sorry for the situation @jame5y . @Dreago summed up pretty well what I have in mind. Sure I don’t know all your feelings and your history between you and your wife. It is indeed very important to share moments with our partner and family. It is also important to share with friends.
My wife doesn’t know one bit about Transformers and I would lie if I told you she always understands. But to me, and to her as well, living with someone must not be some kind of exclusive relation. It’s important to live your own life for some moments, whether you talk about it after or not. Enjoying time for me really helps me feeling better and keeps me opened for family times. It’s an equilibrium that is hard to find sometimes. But it really is the best way for me.

Without telling you what to do, maybe you could talk to her not about the TFs as a hobby, but more about how you share it with real (and sane :D ) people? I’m sure you’ll find a way to. Again the equilibrium between what we want to live « alone » and what we want to share with our partner is delicate to find. But it is manageable. :)

sorry to hear you're not coming @jame5y, TFNation was a little beacon of light for me last year (as the 6 1/2 year relationship crumbled regardless of how much I tried.) It was the most I felt myself last year and also the happiest.

Is there no way you could just come for a few hours so your ticket isn't a complete waste? It does sound like she views her social commitments as far more important than yours.

You need to have a talk with her if she says something about not meeting up with friends (I'm sure she's lovely, you wouldn't have married her otherwise) but to organise to actually meet up with friends then get told suddenly you aren't allowed to go isn't cool. The social aspect of TFNation is the best bit about it, I can be as nerdy as I like, talk absolute nerd bollocks and not feel for a second that I'll be embarrassed as everyone is pretty much on the same page there.

Maybe a few of us should organise a smaller meet up one Saturday down a pub or something? Won't be able to do everything associated with a con but it's always good to get out and chatting with folks even if just for a few hours

My current desktop wallpaper is MP Barry - one of my favourite shots of the figure. Feel free to take a copy and use yourself if you like. It's scaled for 4K displays.

Well, what an utter shitter! My wee Comic Book Shop running friend, Simon, who kicked death in the nuts and saw off Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, has had the sneaky fucker nobble him with a massive heart attack.
    Death is a Wanker.

You owe us a Trump and a Putin at least, you total knobber!

I didn't know anything about their original marvel versions until I read the titan reprints in late naughties. But something about them just clicked with me. Maybe it was their design? Maybe it was the way they were written? Who knows, but I've got a soft spot for them. Straxus more than Bludgeon for some reason.

@jame5y That sucks. I agree with what others have said. It does sound like she's putting herself over you. Granted, it's impossible to say for definite without knowing the whole story or the two of you, but if she's been saying you need to get out the house and be with friends, why is she then ignoring it when you are trying to do that? You should talk to her about it. But when you've got the rant out of your system.

As @PAPY OPTI says, you want to spend time with your other half, but sometimes it's important to go do your own thing too. Or go do something the other half wants to do, even if you don't want to.

@Seeaich Shit. Sorry to hear that. My condolences.

This is a good point @jame5y where are you based? Would it be possible to come for a bit before the party, I think that TFN finished at 5 sans concert

@Seeaich Condolences, really cool you got to know your comics purveyor so well!

Cheers, bud, it's some consolation that he'd been living his life as he wanted Post-ALL running the Comic Shop and branching out into performing and writing poetry but it's an absolute kicker he didn't get some more time to do it. Plus his folks must be in utter bits as they've had to make a final decision. I can't even begin to fathom, for my part I am mostly pissed off in Alexei's vein - WHEN DO THE KNOBBERS DIE, DAMMIT?!

And thanks too @Insurgent. So, yeah, keep your good folks close, and call that mate you've been meaning to call, chapses, you never know.
We go way back to when he was on the other side of the counter like me, mate, Comicville in the Piece Hall Mid-90s. I think this is my first proper "Oh, shit, yeah, we're Mortal!" death of my Forties.

Sorry for your loss, it sounds like your friend went through a lot and had found some happiness so it's a very sad situation.

Death is indeed a knobber. He owes my family Katie's biological father.

Because of his verbal and physical abuse Katie's Mum took her own life when Katie was only 5. She would have been 51 today :(
