Same actually. I was also 9 when the '07 movie came out. As a child I never really paid that much attention to nuance and what made a film "good." In my child eyes I just liked watching these robots on screen. Now though I can definitely admit that these films are far from filmmaking masterpieces. The first 3 though will always have a special place in my heart though because they reinvigorated my enthusiasm for this franchise.

 

Shatter is absolutely a Harrier (in addition to the distinct shoulder-intakes, its unique vectoring core exhausts are her knees) but I don’t think Dropkick is part of it——I’m just not seeing any Harrier parts in him. His canopy-chest is absolutely not a Harrier’s or any fighter jet that comes to mind. It reminds me much more of a WW2 plane’s or a helicopter.

::edit:: Yeah, I’m going with helicopter for Dropkick. I think those are rotor blades on his back—-they’re folded down ALMOST vertically, splaying slightly, on either side of the smooth hub/transmission assembly. And you can see the bushes connecting them to the hub, at the very top.

Kinda leaning towards an Apache.

 

True, though the SS card have been pretty small, but I guess they could make the car modes Lockdown size. At least an increased parts count and third mode should justify the higher price point.

There is nothing bad with creating original characters for the films, even the cartoons and comics end up creating their own characters.

Also the name Dropkick has already been used before, so its not a made up name

 

I’ll wait for someone else to make the comparison image, but taking a look at pics online, even the Autobots are less solid than these new designs. I think we tend to smooth them out a bit more in our memories. The human mind can only retain so much detail.

The triple changing becomes a huge part of how they fight in the two big battle scenes we get with them. It gets decently creative with how they swap between modes. I think its pretty well reflected in how both robots have car and aerial parts on them the whole time.

Yes I plead guilty to asking for info last month, I regret doing that. I was actually trying to keep the tipple changer thing vague here, to preserve speculation.

Over the past few weeks I've thought about it, and reached the conclusion that leaking ANY spoilers from a private test screening is morally and ethically WRONG, especially if you signed an NDA.

I fully believe Optimus_Prowl because what he said was True and the Overkill name was just a place holder.

 

Im calling it, they combine into a Harrier. Dropkicks got a cockpit chest, Shatter has a Harriers distinctive intakes for shoulders. They even have the swiveling jet outlets!

 

So what can you tell us about that seeker from the trailer...? And is it true that

Damn. Was hoping Barricade would be the other Con. If only so that there would be more of a visual distinction between the two. Right now they are both a bit similar.

they have two seperated alt modes. Shatter is a jet and a red muscle car, while Dropkick is a hellicopter and a blue muscle car.
