I want to believe there's a combiner peg in there somewhere. Maybe, god-willing, we'll get a few early release reviews from chefatron that'll clear it up once and for all.

 

its a modernized, proper Punch/Counterpunch new design. what more do you wish for?  

 

I wanted it to be a good transformer taking full advantage of 30 years of technologic advancement, it's not 2 robots, it's a robot with cosplay on it's back.

 

I am not a G1 purist, I just want my toys to not suck.

I scratch my head too on this one. It looks ok... But does ok warrant a special release? I think this version is not above average. No wow factor here. I guess if you are a completist you might need it. For me at that price point. A definite pass.

 

What a cool looking bot. I’d get one if it didn’t seem like a nightmare to get in Australia. I’d have to chase up 1987 goons as well.

No, the idea is to decieve the factions with alt robot modes. This guy can't walk away from anyone and maintain the illusion.

Also, it does transform. Into a car.

To clear any confusion, g1 was awesome in the 80\'s. It is good only through naustalgia now. I obsessively collect new versions of toys as well as new characters. I\'m saying that with sucky 80\'s tech, g1 Punch/Counterpunch pulled off this gimick amazingly well. This new version looks like the doublespy gimick was an afterthought and I will save my money for a more deserving toy. 

 

In fairness a hyper generic alt mode like a plain looking car is probably one of the best options for keeping your cover. It’s such a bland alt mode nobody would remember it.

 

Just give it up.

 

I don't agree, this figure achieves the same effect the original did but more modernized, both modes look very different from each other, honestly this is an amazing figure and a miracle they were able to get it this right.
