You know I didn't ask for a Stephen King novel for a response! And this is 1000% overkill on this thread! Me, Personally was stating the fact that Takara/Hasbro could, now I said COULD...(little word, BIG meaning) create a new Unicron!
I mean think about it. With all the money Takara/Hasbro has used and wasted over years re-tooling minor features or colors for Unicron. Another example is, skip Predaking and devote ALL funds and resources to R & D for a new Unicron.
I love to see Unicron as tall as Fort Max or bigger and taller! Come on! he's a planet! He needs to be huge!! And if you think price would be the issue? you're dead wrong! I would be happy to shell out the money for 3 or 4 foot tall planet eater! Anyway, we know it won't happen. If it does happen, it may not be anytime soon. So, we're stuck with the same ol' same ol' mold for the last 100 hundred years! Which still looks OK, but HasTak could do so much more...

So, literally, the only difference would be size in both the toy AND the price tag? It would be a losing proposition for HasTak because no store is going to carry a $500 4-foot Unicron. Which also would probably fail all the safety tests. Not to mention you're outright asking for a version of Unicron that's larger than a small child - like a modern day USS Flagg. There's a reason they never revisited the USS Flagg.

When you thought Takara was just reissuing Armada Unicron with nicer paint and you could safely skip it, already owning the best version of the mold (Energon colors)... and then it turns out to not only be a reissue of an insanely exclusive repaint, but one that looks even more gorgeous and amazing than the original, slathered in metallic and translucent greens.

I totally understand that this is not for everyone. In fact, it's probably not for most people. But this... this is for me.

    Thanks bro.

Im stoked i was able to preorder all the new TakaraTomy preorders last night for $611.06 USD. Both Diaclones, POTP Nemesis Prime, POTP Wreck Gar, MP Beast Wars Megatron, & Encore: "Unicron of Light" . Shipping will probably be like $60.00-$90.00? That's $670.00 to $700.00 TOTAL after shipping costs, ect.. In the US its $880.00, & that's assuming shipping is included. $180, is what i saved,.. minimum!!

OK, after slagging on the cost of this thing, i've gotta admit, dang, it's pretty cool looking.
More then i can justify and bigger then i need, but it's actually pretty cool.

I would low key very happy if they reissued Primus with the box they used for Galaxy Force and possibly tossed in the Hasbro Unicron head. I stubbornly refused to get a Primus without that that wasn't Takara's back in the day (and I was a dependant kid at that time) so it wasn't until TRU was going out of buisness that I finally got to experience Primus via a still slightly too expensive redeco (which I'm actually very happy with). A reissue of GF Primus would be fantastic though.
This is exactly how I felt as well.

Ok, I feel I need to expand my thoughts on this particular color scheme. Yes it is "toon"-ish accurate, yes it is in all kinds of green colors, and yes green is my favorite color. But I can't find the reason inside myself to purchase another mold I already own. My one mold per character, the huge size, the cost, and limited display area, prevents my own justification for this purchase. I'll just contend myself with watching videos and looking at pics from others, so please take a lot of pics, thanks!:D

I'll be sure to share photos, this mold (the Armada decals and head) have a special place in my heart so that and the paint job gave me no hesitation in pulling the trigger on this purchase.

So, which is the most screen accurate version of this mold in everyone's eyes? The 2010, 25th, or 30th edition? Or is there another I might have missed? I'm not a huge fan of it (seems dated to me), but my kid saw it on my screen and really digs it. I'm thinking about getting one for him as a surprise.

It depends which era of transformers you're trying to match up to.

The original 2003, and reissue universe 2008, molds matches pretty good to the armada toon.

The Platinum Edition 2016, and 2018 reissue, remolded redeco-ed molds is about as good as your gonna get to the G1 1986 movie version.

And this new mostly green version is much closer, than the lucky draw one, to the glowing all neon green version from the armada toon.

All other redeco versions are just cool variants. Please bare in mind that all of my statements are just my personal opinions and does not reflect TF fans in general.

Seems obvious it's going to be the Mini-Con light construct version from Armada.
That guy sounds like he has a mental disorder...
While I don't agree that all toys now are hollow and cheap, I will say that the difference in quality between then and now I feel might have something to do with the fact that Hasbro tries to make as many different gimmick lines for one cartoon or movie that they can nowadays, spreading themselves and their budget pretty thin, whereas back then it was mostly just one line of proper figures for a cartoon.
    Depends:

For Armada, the original toy or the Universe (2008) reissue is accurate:

For Energon, there's just the Energon toyline release of Unicron (be careful as something got lost in translation back then, and there are many toys of Unicron in his Armada colors in Energon packaging because someone didn't get the memo back then that Unicron got a new color scheme in the show):

For G1, there's either the Takara-Tomy "Welcome To 2010" Campaign Transformers 2010 toyline Unicron, or the repaint Hasbro released as an Amazon exclusive later:

My kid loves G1, so it comes down to 2010 or the Hasbro release. The 2010 seems to be insanely cost prohibitive now, so the Hasbro release may be the one. They all have that terrible see-through right fist, but I don't think my son will mind.
