They did a bunch of Encore preorders recently, I bit on those and now have my G1 Ratchet, Ironhide, e hobby cassettes and e hobby black Megatron.

I think they're buying old stock from some other site or store somewhere and selling it on. Only way I can explain the preorders for stuff that sold out years ago and hasn't been reissued. A stockroom find wouldn't explain the months of waiting.

 

Was chatting to a Taobao retailer. Mentioned July for a reissue of Boost. Hope it's true. Same for Ollie to I think. They're taking deposits now for both the silver and white leg versions

The "toy" versions of Boost and Hatch possibly available?

Pretty good news, IF true. Hopefully, less expensive U.S. retailers will have them (besides BBTS).

 

I checked with another seller, they said no to ollie, so who knows. It's 2 sources now mentioing a boost reissue. Still, a grain of salt is needed

 

So, something odd happened yesterday.

I periodically look through bots on both TF-Source and BBTS. Even sold out bots. It helps me maintain a mental picture of what I should be keeping an eye out for. Anyway, I was looking through BBTS yesterday when I noticed Boost (not the combination set with Hatch) was in stock. I spent a few minutes comparing images to make sure that what I was looking at was the toy version and then bought him.

I was on my way here to let everyone know they had some stock when I started second guessing what just happened. It was just a week ago that a reissue was mentioned. Went back to BBTS to see the listing again and Boost was sold out. Showed in stock in the search and sold out on the product page. Figuring maybe a glitch; I checked my POL and he's there and available to ship. Checked my credit card and the charge is there.

I don't know where he came from and why the stock was so low unless someone stumbled onto one in the warehouse and my "shits and giggles" search paid off.

...and as I tell my wife when she's telling a story that seemingly goes nowhere. Say "The End."

 

Received my XTB Boost from the above finding. Despite the imagery on BBTS's website, it was not the "toy" version I received. I discovered this after opening him and flipping the car over. It was super late and had been a long miserable day. If I had been paying more attention I'd seen the box labeled "toon." I'm not sure if I should call BBTS and inquire into returning him since he isn't the correct release or...

After realizing he was blue and white instead of grey and silver, and knowing that a rerelease isn't a guarantee, I started looking through photos attempting to justify to myself how blue and white is going to work out just fine in my collection. Found some photos, from this thread, dated two years ago and started reading through the comments. Seems that had I received the correct "toy" version that the coloring isn't quite right anyhow. More of a pale blue/grey than a dark grey and people had been repainting the figure's chest and head back then.

So now I'm wondering how complicated it'd be to repaint the head and chest dark grey and then disassembled the legs and paint them with (I think Krylon makes it) in chrome to have a true to toy release of Windcharger/ Boost.

 

Glad you found one! If for some reason you decide you'd rather sell and wait for a 'toon version please LMK. I missed out on both versions way back when and have been attempting to rectify this for months.

 

I didn't do it but I remember someone did a really nice gray paint job on him in this thread with pictures and he said it came apart really easy for painting. It might take you some time but if you scroll through, you're sure to find it and he said how he took it apart. Assuming that's what you want to do.

I've had both figures (sold the one you got) and as you said, the other one isn't really right either. It's closer but it's a light blue gray with more blue than gray. So it's not like you missed out too much by getting that one. If you really decide you hate it or don't want it, I'd recommend selling it as I'm sure there are many people who would snap that right up....get your money back plus a little profit before the (maybe?) reissue.

 

I think where I'm at now is that I don't really know if or when a reissue will actually happen so I may hold onto this one. If a reissue comes along and the "toy" colors are better then I'll grab it. When that stock dries up; flip this guy I received yesterday and get back what he cost me instead of losing money.

If the reissue doesn't happen in the next year...year and half or the "toy" colors are still off then I'll dismantle this one and paint it up. I've been wanting to learn how to airbrush and that'd give me time to sort it all out. I don't mind going at it with a spray can on my Bandai kits but on an already 70+ figure I wanna airbrush and go slowly. Do it right. I've made mistakes on my kits from moving to hastily and without a clear plan.

They should be re-released this month. There’s a place I go to where I get my transformers from that had them in stock, but it 2hrs away. They were selling the toy version 2pack for $120. The place is called Toyarena. Look them up on Facebook and pm them and see if they can ship to you. Hope that helps.

Well BBTS had them on preorder set to release in July. It says sold out on preorders, but I’m thinking they’ll have extras.

 

Are they the only retailer that had re-release preorders?

 

I do hope it's the toon colors, I sold off my toy set.

 

Based on BBTS the preorder is for the white legged version, whichever version that is.

Toon, but that could be a stock photo they are using cause they didn't mention one or the other.

 

The one I bought a month or so ago that even the rep at BBTS wasn't sure where it came from (musta been a warehouse find) had the toy color pictured but turned out to be toon (blue and white.) Unless it states clearly toon or toy I wouldn't trust the stock photos.
