I don't know if anyone has had this issue, its my first shelf built. The top two glass panels lay even but the last one wobbles. At first I assumed it was the rubber so I adjusted them. Removed them to see if it eliminated the wobble etc. My best guess, until I can get a level out tomorrow, is that the right bottom rod is at a slight slant.

Now if this is the case I have a issue because my family from Colorado was kind enough to pick it up on the way to Iowa for their annual camping trip. Any Ikea close enough is state or two away. If this is indeed the case I figured I could use the mount mods to remedy it but curious if this is common or if maybe something needs adjusted?

I actually have 4 of the brown/black bases I don't need. Yours free if you cover shipping... but probably expensive, as I'm in Canada, and they're heavy.

I haven't tried painting them, but I'd suggest if you want them to match, dismantle all your cases and paint them all the same. Guaranteed match!

Oh man I’m tempted, but you’re probably right shipping is going to be expensive. It might be worth compared to the breaking down and paintin the ones I have.

Well, you'll still have to break them down eventually... what State are you in? I'll PM you a shipping estimate.

Has anyone combined Detolf shelves in a 2x2, 2x3 or 3x3 formation with a custom base?

The desire is to make a battle scene behind glass using a mix of Titan through Legend scale. I was thinking it might be possible to still use a couple shelves internally if it was 2x2 or 2x3. I may be delusional but just a thought.

Side by side.. yes... in a grid? I'd expect problems with sagging glass and having to move to heavier glass.. which means possibly changing the rails. I think you could re-use the deltolf side panels... but beyond that.. you may be in all custom land

I agree. A Detolf is a pre-stressed structure - the weight is carried by the glass. At minimum, you'd need a support column up the center (of a 2x2 arrangement). My 3x1 arrangement is already scary - a lot of extra load on the centre panels (they bow out a bit).

I have a question - the shelves are said to be capable of bearing up to 8 lbs/3,5 kg. But what about the very top? I'm afraid of stressing them to much, and I don't want a detolf crumbling with a lot of expensive toys inside. But I've seen people keep Gabriel's on top, and it works for them. Any ideas?

Mine have been holding up for a couple of years now. Even though they are packed even more now.

That's... a lot of weight on the shelves. I'm not an expert in tempered glass, but I'd be worried about it letting go all of a sudden.

I was doing a bit of a mental estimation and a shelf should hold 7 MPs nicely in 3 rows. For example, the Maximal shelf would have Dinobot and Rhinox at the back, Cheetor, Primal and Tigatron in the middle, and Rattrap and Airazor at the front.

Welcome to the boards. Can you provide more info in your question? This thread is dedicted to a flat-pack curio cabinet sold by IKEA names Detolf. They are fairly cheap, costing far less than the glass alone if purchased separately. Some folks in this thread have done a ‘dual Detolf’ mod that marries two of the cabinets side by side. Do a thread search for ‘dual Detolf’ and you should be directed to several how-to guides.

I'm going on a detolf run pretty soon. If anyone lives near me I can pick one up for you and all it will cost you is the price of the detolf and a little bit to help with gas. Considering how much shipping is I think that's a fair deal. I live in Grayville Illinois

So piece of advice, get the white board Detolf. Never get the black-brown one. I bought 7 of the black brown ones, but without a lot of lighting they get real dark and are hard to see. The white ones make keeping figures on the bottom shelf far easier and better looking. It offers contrast against the figures (figures being usually dark) and accounting for all the shadows dropped from the shelves above. Even if the white ones clash with your decor (which is whY i got black-brown ones), get the white ones anyway. It's better for collecting.

Now I need to figure how to retrofit my 7 black-brown ones somehow. :/

Cover the black bottom shelf with white shelf liner. We use it on our kitchen cabinets
