Got the predacons in the post today. Took Rampage out of the box. It felt and cheap and insubstantial, I returned Rampage to the box and then put the box in storage. G1 Predacons are better in my opinion.
I believe I may have fixed the Predaking Knuckle issue.... If you would like a set please contact me through BodgeHawk
Probably a question that's been asked before, but... Will Takara's verison of Predaking be retooled or include anything the Hasbro one does not? Like UW Devastator had the elbows, extra weapons, and visor gimmick. If so, I would want to hold off. If not, then I'll probably keep my BBTS preorder.
I do have this preordered @ TFSource, will probably stick with it until there's a better 3rd party one. Expecting/hoping a company like Perfect Effect or DNA whatever other ones are called, make some adjustments. I see Perfect Effect already has something for the PotP Abominus @ TFS. -I had the KO OS Jinbao Feral Rex one, just..didn't like it, it seemed very clunky (the arms seemed weird), hard to move/articulate, and hard to get in a pose/stand. -That Warlord set by Unique Toys, don't care for it, esp. because it's like 13 inches or something? Too small for me. -The original Feral Rex is also too small (yes, I'm looking for something at least 18", but preferably Toyworld Devy height or close) To my knowledge, that's it, what other Predaking's are on the market (not enough decent ones..imo obviously). At least this one is 18", I just wonder if those Decept decals can be removed, don't like them. I use the clear cartoon symbols, love them. I'd like to put some of them on there instead, I rarely ever use silver or white backed unless it's going to be applied to an area that is a similar color, made an exception for Shockwave though, purple enough (silver back one on MMC Frenzy below). TFS has a listing for DNA Designs upgrade set for PotP Predaking, $49, October. DNA Design - DK-07 - Predaking Upgrade Kit I was hoping for some type of filler for his abdomen, it's kinda skinny. Like how Toyworld Devy Edition 2 has those Lat fillers or whatever they're called.
Considering Rampage is my favorite Predacon I too was very disappointed in this particular figure. I do, however, encourage you to pull the set out and combine it at least once before putting him in storage indefinitely. Boy was this just a fun combiner. The mass shifting trick between Razor Claw and Dive Bomb to keep them in scale with the other predacons and still manage to produce a Titan Class scale combiner, was a very cool concept. I just wish they could have produced better bot and beast modes an still managed to pull off this concept. Very stable and once the DNA set is realeased it will replace my Feral Rex as my preferred combiner representation of Predaking. I intend to display my G1 re-issue figures in their Beast Modes and Feralcons in bot mode to have the best display of them in each mode I can possibly produce.
I went out to eat last night. Ordered a big expensive meal. Took one bite and it didn't impress me. So I dumped the rest on the floor and left.

One thing I do like about the Predacons is that they haven't always been under Megatron/Galvatron's control- but that doesn't make them good, they're just an entirely separate evil faction on their own- but I love that about them- because you can place them in a battle diorama like: They're fighting for their own reasons, they don't give a shit about the Autobots or the Decepticons. I even plan to order some Cybertronian stickers, specifically just Cybertronian symbols, and cover the Decepticon symbols on them- because I like the idea of them just simply being The Predacons. They do their own thing, they have their own plans, and if you stand in their way: You just might fry. ^_^ Without an upgrade kit, I feel this set is already spectacular- but the upgrade kits coming down the 3P pipe will just take it to a ridiculous level of awesome. Can't wait to purchase my set. ^_^
If some didn't already know, Predaking is arriving this week at TFSource, via an email newsletter from them I just saw. Was supposed to come in August originally.
I like to use TFS when I can, because the points you get, speaking of which, wonder why BBTS doesn't have something similar.
