Maybe so , but it’s not even close to a season 1 BW’s Megatron . I guess if you want an MP sized BW Meg’s he’s a good option .

I dumped all my 3rd party preorders because of this very reason . I knew Meg’s was going to be expensive , and I’m just waiting for OPV3 to be the same if not even more pricer. With the bar being raised , comes the increase in price . ( least its my simple reasoning. )

Aw geez, I want this guy soooooooo badly, but I genuinely do not even remotely have the budget for him in the slightest. I really did have my fingers crossed for same price as g1 Megs at the highest, but I just don't know how I could both realistically budget for him at this price. Like even if I gave up on collecting anything else, which is something I just dont want to sacrifice for the sake of one figure, even if it's MP BW Megs. Really wish they'd have gutted that worthless voice box to keep the price down to only Kind Of Super Expensive.
I hope the two Megatrons and Dinobot are outliers and that this ridiculously high price pointing isn't gonna be the 'new normal' for MPs across the board.

The only $300 figure I've ever bought was SoC Voltron. He was worth it, but that's a LOT to live up to for any other figure in that price range.

 

Just to address a couple of your points here, as the "It's called a Budget" line comes off more than a tiny bit insulting to those of us choosing not to purchase Megatron. Even those of us being extremely complimentary about what they've accomplished.

I'm in my mid forties. I have a very well structured budget, and I'm disciplined about what I allow the "disposable" part of that budget to go towards. For some mild perspective for those in the audience that are into musical instruments, I'm skipping Megatron and Dinobot and using the money that would have been spent on them to buy a new guitar amp. And not an inexpensive piece of garbage guitar amp, but a true tube Marshall that fits my needs.

To myself, the idea that two toys could take the funds that could be used for this amp purchase is an unreasonable trade. And rather than starve myself or impact some other part of my budget like retirement funding of vacation savings, I'm choosing to skip the Beast Wars Masterpiece releases.

Takara has every right to price things the way they see fit. And those of us who are fans have every right to purchase or not purchase those items at that set price point. I do, absolutely, believe they are justified in their pricing. These are spectacular pieces. I just don't want them so bad to skip out on supporting my creative endeavors. Simple as that.

I mean have you ever looked into what people are paying for statues? Let alone have you ever seen the price on a Hot Toy 1/6 release? And those don't have any of the R&D into making a transformable figure.

Look I am not celebrating the price.. it sucks. The reality is you are buying a high end collectable that has to be shipped across the ocean to BBTS then shipped to your home.. Do you not think BBTS should make any money for providing that service?

 

Can't we all just take a look around the house and find 300 dollars worth of junk we don't need or use anymore and sell that to get this? BYE MP10! we don't need you anymore.

If you are deciding to skip Megatron and get a guitar amp instead then good for you! That's your choice as a consumer. No one is forcing your hand to pre-order this thing.

 

Good luck trying to offload that for more that $50 to $75

 

At this rate you will probably need to trade 3 MP10 for the new Convoy

 

Looks like I'll be waiting for a KO of this. Masterpiece is an already expensive line to begin with and when you get characters like G1 Megatron,BW Dinobot and BW Megatron being very expensive even for seasoned MP collectors well it's no surprise if a lot of people go for the KO route to get him for a much lower price.

 

I’d suggest buying a Switch before MP Mega’T-Rex, for example.

But, this makes contemplating Grinder and the 3P Deathsaurii to come all the more palatable.

 

Sorry. This guy is badass, but I'm not spending $300 for a gd Transformer. That's a TV, y'all. Or a Playstation. Or a nice spa day. Or a cute weekend Airbnb. Somebody on this board is gonna skip their damn car payment for this thing. Y'all better act right.

lol. I'm not judging anybody - unless you really skip your bills for this. Then you deserve my sympathy, really. I just think the pricing on these things is gd ridiculous and if we keep feeding the animals, the price is just gonna keep going up. Like, over $100 is one thing, $200 is reeeally pushing it, but $300 is just madness.
