Unfortunately it doesn't always work out that way.

My wife and I were just talking about this tonite. The amount of enjoyment I'm getting out of a $180 TF figure is highly dubious, especially if it's still in the shipping box...

Some of mine are like this.
But for me, I am able to derive pleasure from just knowing that I own them.

Agreed, I got a few figures in this week and between redoing my man cave and dealing with the insurance company and body shop from where someone backed into the front in of my car I've barley gotten to touch them other than sitting them on the shelf.

Heh, I had at one time 3 jobs:

    1 Full time, 40+ hours per week. 8-5 M-F
1 Part time, 30+ hours per week Monday thru Sunday (my own hours, my own business)
1 Part time, 20+ hours per week Monday thru Sunday with whatever time I had left making YouTube videos

I had the money for toys, but not much time to really enjoy them. And this turned into a habit even when I god laid off and cut down on making videos. It's like I conditioned myself to buy something new, get it home, take it out of the packaging, and put on the shelf. And that's it. Often times it never gets opened! Now I have a room full of unopened boxes.

My life is a mess right now. I'm not happy with recent events. Family are a bunch of a$$ holes, and that doesn't help either. But no one gives a crap about that. I just hope I can get back on my feet again soon.

Yeah, I agreed. I bought all the Studio Series wave 1 but to-date, I have only managed to open Optimus!

I’ll open some of them later this week or the next...

Just wait until you have time. The wait might make finally opening them that much sweeter. For the most part, when I pick up a figure, usually I'll crack open the box as soon as I get home with it. If I don't have time, I'll wait up until just before I have to go to bed before opening it. This is a hobby, after all, and shouldn't come before priorities such as work and family.

I ordered three quints off eBay 2 years ago that are still in their shipping box.

mainly due to apathy towards quints and a issue of where to display them.

I buy stuff during lunchbreak at work-when I get back, there's enough time for me to open and play around with the new guy.
When I get home from work I make it a point to play with at least one figure, it's very relaxing to transform figures :D
