Basic thread idea - we take a Transformers character and think of a character that's equivalent to them. Basically you're talking to someone whose never heard of Transformers and think of the best character we could to describe them. I'll start - Optimus and Megatron - Martin Luther King and Malcolm X (bit of a problematic comparison but it works) Bumblebee - Phantom Menace Anakin in Clone Wars Anakins body Ironhide - Rooster Cogburn without the depression Jazz - Denzel Washington in every movie he's ever been in Starscream - Dick Cheney but FAAABULOUS Skywarp - one of those guys that saw The Dark Knight and based his personality off the Joker Bulkhead - who was the big Gargoyle on Gargoyles that shot the cop? Him. That Gargoyle. Grimlock - Literally just Doomguy Nightbeat - Sherlock but from the shitty Barnabus Wizardcock show Hound - Your cool environmental literature professor who was super woke and read Walden and had a farm and shit and didn't follow the lesson plan and had class outside and definitely smoked weed when he was younger and doesn't anymore but still wants to legalize it and fuck I loved that class Beachcomber - same as Hound except he still smokes weed but isn't a douche about it Bonecrusher - Evil Doomguy okay that's all I got guys go crazy
None of these are perfect matches, but I'll give it a try. Grimlock - Hulk, not Bruce Banner Megatronus - Sauron Unicron - Morgoth Galvatron - A more evil version of South Park Mel Gibson. Cyclonus - Eric Cartman when he's loyal to Mel Gibson. Straxus - A less friendly and cute Lord Farquaad Starscream - Prince Charming Lockdown - Lee Van Cleef's Angel Eyes Devcon - The Man With No Name
A bit problematic? I would say that is one of the greatest on the statements I’ve heard this year so far Perhaps if you make a distinction to which Megatron were speaking of because To compare G1 Megatron to Malcolm would be a serious insult to Malcolm And I don’t even see this one whos doomguy?
Well just probelematic in the sense that comparing influential civil rights leaders who found common ground on some serious and complex issues to cartoon characters may not look exactly flattering. However it’s a comparison I’ve heard a lot - they want the same thing, just in different ways. Also dude play Doom he’s literally too angry to die
Broadway from Gargoyles and Animated Bulkhead had the same voice actor. Rollout - Jack Burton Glitch - R2D2 Whirl - Spike from Buffy Kick Off - Maximus Decimus Overlord - Comettus Springer - Han Solo Tech Spec Prowl - Data from Star Trek
Optimus Prime - Captain America Megatron - Magneto (both are anti-villains) BW Megatron - Doctor Doom
You do know that Professor Xavier and Magneto were in fact based on Martian Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X right? That's why that joke was in Dead pool 2 about the X-Men being an outdated allegory to racism in the 1960's because that's actually an accurate description of how the X-Men was created.
Yes I know I'm just saying if it's outdated for the X-Men it's a little questionable to use it here BUT I digress
Broadway is the Gargoyle you're thinking of. I could remember each of their names except for his, for some reason.
This is a fairly easy concept to do with TFA characters. Bumblebee - Spongebob Bulkhead - Patrick Starscream - Ice King, I guess, because I can remember very few times Tom Kenny has used Screamer's voice on other baddies
All based on G1 cartoon versions... Hot Rod - any 80's kid that grew up wanting to be Luke Skywalker Rodimus Prime - the same "kid" after finding out he was hired to replace a really popular guy that just retired Kup - Grampa Simpson Arcee - Princess Leia Wheeljack - Doc Brown Starscream - in his own mind, Machiavelli. In reality, Waylon Smithers
