It's completely possible that those people did see a film where he was named Ramjet.

A large number of the movie bots in general have had placeholder names on set. I image Hasbro doesn't always have names locked down and trademarked, etc in time.

And let's not forget cases like "Devastator" from the 07 movie.

Either way, doesn't really matter much to me.

 

I suspected it was Starscream. The main giveaway was that he is clearly Starscream.

 

Except Sector 7 can come in the picture,plot armour and whatnot..really..plus I don't think they're gonna just gang up on him all at once..not because it's impossible but I don't think they'll go with that

From what I've been told, Bumblebee tries to stradle the line best it can so it can be either a soft reboot or not...but there's enough going on that it would be more a straight up reboot completely not in line with the 2007 film whatsover, rendering it completely outside the continuity of the Bayverse.

I have been given permission from Optimus_Primal to state that with the exception of the transformation in the trailer, all CGI involving "Starscream" was unfinished rough rendering and the character was NOT named. You can all probably guess WHY he insisted the character was not Starscream despite appearances at this point given the problems people already mention of just knowing this is Starscream being around before the first film - should be fairly obvious at this point. But with the reshoots it is entirely possible the scene is changed and what was seen in the Pre-screen showing regarding Starscream is no longer accurate to what the final cut will be.

 

Really they couldn’t make Starscream in the 80s an F-15. I mean really?????

well while i agree it looked a LOT like starscream it doesnt mean anything, since, well tlk hotrod looks completely like g2 sideswipe, down to the colors alt mode and  design , but surprise, it was hotrod, so yeah, for what we knew he could have been named sunstreaker the evil deceptcion jet that looks like a seeker, and be inteligent and not a coward XD

Eh... I was talking about something like this with guys from ILM a while back. It was regarding scenes in The Force Awakens.

They rendered and composited the shots of Rey piloting the Falcon on Jakku, when scenes later came in showing a tie shooting the cannons Finn was using.

So they had to go back and re-position and re-render JUST THE HANGING CANNONS and not the entire scenes.

Sounded like more of a mosquito level nuisance than an actual ordeal.

One of the guys who saw the early test screening said all three Decepticons were killed in the end.

 

I can see where this is going...Paramount is caving in, maybe they were undecided with the name during the rough cut but after the reception for both that and the trailer, they're going with Starscream. This isn't a bad thing. Might as well strike while the iron is hot, there's more excitement from the older fans because they thought it was Starscream and immediately struck them as Starscream in the trailer.

If Transformers 6 ends up looking a lot more like this Bumblebee movie with regards to styling, don't be surprised to see little to no explanation why. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. Hasbro and Paramount alike are probably banking on the casual audience to not care about the differences and the diehards and fans in general largely favoring Knight's approach compared to Bay.

BTW my gut feeling is that when Hasbro took more creative control starting with this movie, one of the reasons was for the designs. Maybe they themselves recognized that the Bay designs don't look like what the general public would identify with when we hear "Optimus Prime" but see a Bay design. Hasbro it seems, wants their movies going forward to look like the source material, not necessarily strictly G1 but at the very least familiar.

For example, this F4 Phantom Starscream. Obviously looks different but than F22 Bayscream and G1 Starscream but looks a lot closer to G1 Starscream in overall look. It's about strengthening brand recognition, so multiple iterations of the same characters can be recognized even if they aren't the same version. For example, I can tell that cyberverse Bumblebee and this Travis Knight movie Bee are different versions of Bumblebee.

I think going forward, future movies will focus more about doing their own thing and only be loosely tied to the 5 old Bay seasoned movies.

Heh even if Starscream dies in this one, they can reason that he got brought back as a mangled mess in TF1 then maybe come back again for TF6 with an F-15E Strike Eagle with a robot mode like from this movie. Hell Megatron came back twice, so can Starscream.

 

As with Star Wars, GI Joe, Ghost Rider, Fantastic 4, Mass Effect, Alien, Predator, Terminator, Star Trek, Lethal Weapon, Thundercats, Battlestar Galactica & every other franchise they totally ruined, I just don't give a fuck anymore.
