Exclusive preview: Power up for IDW's new Bumblebee movie prequel comic EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW: POWER UP FOR IDW'S NEW BUMBLEBEE MOVIE PREQUEL COMIC Michael Bay's mainline Transformers saga may be temporarily out of juice but there's a certain buzz in the air about December's '80s-set film spinoff, Bumblebee, directed by Laika Studios' CEO and heir to the Nike empire, Travis Knight. To prime viewers for the spotlight holiday feature showcasing this endearing yellow and black Cybertronian robot, IDW is releasing an awesome 4-issue prequel miniseries starting on June 27 that appears to be injected with all the heart and heroics seen in the frenetic live-action film franchise. Transformers: Bumblebee is written by veteran Transformers scribe John Barber (Optimus Prime) with explosive art by Andrew Griffith (Robots in Disguise) as some high-octane hijinx launches the fan-favorite Autobot into 1960s-era London where he's recruited for a top-secret undercover mission by the suave superspy organization MI6. This all-age Cold War sci-fi thriller is the perfect cocktail to set the stage for Bumblebee's upcoming Silver Screen solo premiere. Shaken, not stirred! Barber has been a faithful Transformers fan from the very beginning, back in the era that the new Bumblebee movie is set, and is anxious for readers to join him and the creative team on a mod new mashup mission. "I couldn’t be more excited for the action, adventure, and heart this film promises to deliver," he told SYFY WIRE. "For the prequel comic — knowing the movie had the 1980s covered — we went back further, to the time when we know Bumblebee was on Earth but before he finds himself in the state he’s in, come the ’80s. "We took it back to London in the swinging 1960s, and we team Bumblebee with Britain’s top spy (well, self-proclaimed top spy at least) for a tale of an altogether different heartfelt relationship between human and Cybertronian! The art is by Andrew Griffith featuring colors by Priscilla Tramontano — two of my favorite collaborators. In fact, the three of us did a prequel to the third Transformersmovie, way back when. It was great to get the old band back together for some new tunes!" Check out our exclusive 6-page preview plus covers in the full gallery below, then chime in on whether or not you're psyched for this nostalgic prequel miniseries starring Bumblebee. Transformers: Bumblebee #1 arrives in comic shops on June 27.
On the one hand, I’m not that interested in movie tie-ins. On the other hand, this is probably the closest thing to an IDW Barber Action Man follow up we’re ever going to get, so I guess I’ll give it a go.
Movies are realistic cartoons g1 cartoons are more ridiculous hounds need air mask rescuer drowning spike, humans don’t float away on cybertron and able breath air out in space on cybertron it’s long list I can keep going you don’t like movies stick with boring blocky Lego cartoons you want realistic transformers not in scale with one other unlike cartoons watch movies take your pick but they both have there flaws and both are not perfect shockwave no human face in cartoon
Lets try it again, maybe you will be able to understand it better. These prequels were always ridiculous, tried to explain what Bay could not ever tell in movie. It seems you get berserk.
