Is this part of the main IDW universe? Will we be able to see the USS Enterprise facing down Unicron?

I do not know why so many people do not like of Windblade, it can not be because of IDW comics since she's a good character, if the reason is because she is a new character who gets so much attention when Optimus and Soundwave so I do not understand because the reason that the people like the IDW comics is the fact that they use characters who have never had any previous highlights or new characters.

Here are some comments that I found on another site talking about her:

    And her wear is showing.
I wouldn’t have a problem with her if they actually invested as much into making her FUN as they have in shoving her everywhere.

Another reason I think Strongarm would make a better female embassador is that she fits perfectly in any TF line you add her too. Her Prowl esthetic and Brawn bulk along with her eager to impress by the rules rookie personality makes her a perfect Autobot addition.

Unlike Windblade’s pseudo racist American take on Japanese culture, from her Geisha face to Samurai swords with none of the character tropes that at the very least makes most of us anime fans. Plus again, as a jet she hardly fits in with the rest of the Autobots. Even the Aerialbots.
Now if Hasbro were to make her part of an elite Geisha painted Autobot Force not unlike the Kaoshi Warriors from Avatar and make her kind of a Suki archetype then you have my interest.

I am totally about Seeker Commander Slipstream. Gives Starscream something more to connive and plot against usurping. Not unlike as he did with Shockwave in TF: Prime.

Im still salty we never got a legit Animated toy out of her.

But see? Slipstream makes sense within this context.

i thought she was fun in RiD. she had a fun mavericky cocky attitude. and i like her in the idw comics as well. as lucas pointed out the compromise she's constantly making going forward is interesting and has changed who she was when she started out....the machinima series is, well, the machinima series. megatron is the only good one there.

i think your strongarm example and issue with her being a jet kinda cancel out. her being a jet makes her unique to the autobots. that's not a bad thing....like you said strongarm is a bit like prowl and brawn. she's already like who we got. windblade being a jet is different.

her not fitting in because she's a jet....do you say the same thing about jetfire? or powerglide? what make them being a jet different from her? how is it their alt modes fit and hers doesn't?

I would tell you to go watch the awful machinima cartoons to see a major reason why everybody hates her...but then I'd have to tell you to watch the awful machinima cartoons. It's not a crime punishable by the Geneva Convention to do that...but it sure feels like one.

Now I want a series to have a subplot about Strongarm being an understudy of Prowl.

Exactly! She's far too unique if anything that she obviously just stands out too much from the very groups she's supposed to be among. In the IDW Comics it sorta worked given many characers from her planet had similar face markings, but everywhere else her face just sticks out as being different.

If you’re willing to buy in to the aesthetic, the recent TF vs Joe is amazing.

Well Jetfire had no affiliation initially and he was Starscreams partner before even the war, so as far as having a giant jet in the Autobot ranks his precense makes sense. Powerglide was all too aware that the fact that he was a jet set him apart from his fellow bots which made him an insufferable showoff, and thus, endearing. Both examples still looked and felt like Transformers. Wingblade with her Japanese tropes makes her look more like a human concoction like Nightbird or Bayforner Drift than an actual Cybertronian.

I once wrote a Star Trek/Transformers fanfic where they were the same thing. Dilithium was Energon in its crystal form.

I want properly budgeted Transformers animation wherein Titans Return Optimus Prime and Power of the Primes Elita-1 fight side-by-side.

It's a toyline, bro. If she's selling toys that's all the justification she needs. Just like all of the other "iconic" characters you mentioned who only stick around because *they sell the most toys.*

    MMMmmm.. Yea.

I want the Retailer Incentive cover.. Because No Windblade..

But then, sigh.. I have to read about her and see her in the comic itself. Ughhhh... Annoying

But I hope the story just has her as a minor role. I want to see Kirk and Prime in action against Megatron and Kor or a Gorn warrior, or Better still an Andorian! I would love to see that. They have to put Harry Mudd in there tho, and Starscream, now that would be a cool storyline thread to pull.:thumb

Well to be fair, the colonists are all also Cybertronian, and the IDW versions of the Autobots and Decepticons deserved some ridicule given they spent millions of years wrecking the universe with a war where many of them didn't seem to know what they were originally fighting about anymore.

The Autobots do have Aerialbots, though. And Powerglide. And Jetfire. (And those are just the Autobot planes that are black, red, and white.) But the "no flying Autobots" thing is a silly myth that should have died out back in '86.

Windblade also had the advantage of being specifically created as the "Fan Voted" character whose entire premise was to get a toy, good or bad. And of course not being a pink sports car Hasbro needed thirty years of convincing would sell in an boy's action figure line certainly helped, too.

Unfortunately, no, appears to be no more in continuity than previous miniseries comics like the Mars Attacks crossover.

I'd also just like to say that a character being overexposed (for various reasons) isn't necessarily a fault in the character itself. I actually quite like Windblade's design and feel like she has the potential to be great (and maybe she already is, I haven't read the comics/etc in which she appears so can't comment).

It's actually a problem a lot of breakout characters encounter. TVTropes has a whole article on it, named after poor old Wolverine who famously suffered from it.

This isn't turning into a new TFP Arcee thing for you, is it?

On topic, IDW figured out a way to get me to spend money. Just wish I could have found that John Harriman comic that they did years back.

I guess they are crapping up two more franchises.  Can\'t wait until they do a Star Trek/Star Wars crossover.
