Bayformers have been raping and disfiguring the idea of what Transformers are all about since 2007. I don't care about reboots, reimaginations, reinterpretations of these monstrosities. The one thing I want to finally see is a true sequel to my beloved G1 cartoon. Give me an animated series that picks up after the "Return of Optimus Prime", aimed at a more mature audience, that continues the story of the original characters. Everything that has been coming out for the past 30 years, excluding BW, has just been recycled shit.

    Edit: highlighted for @GirlBot

The plot of the stories told by the G1 cartoon were either paper-thin or nonexistent and the animation was very shoddily made with errors far beyond counting. Which is why my favorite Transformers show is Transformers Prime. It's because I take it as its own continuity separate from the rest of the Aligned continuity family that I enjoy it so. I prefer shows that are known for being consistent over shows that aren't known for being consistent.

It's not about whether you agree with Haz or not. It's about content.

Which is more interesting? Endless threads about reboots/no reboots, this sucks/doesn't suck, etc., or threads about the meanings of things, even if you disagree with the meanings of things that he or others may see? I agreed with some of his threads, and there were others where I saw things a little differently than him, but they were endlessly more fascinating than 98% of this forum's threads.

Hazekiah sees things in his own unique light, and that's something I can respect greatly.

Actually, there was a continuation to G1 comics run called Regeneration 1. Simon Furman even wrote it. You can check it out for more G1 content.

Imo, a G1 story for a movieverse won't work. Here's why - everyone knows everything about it. Onxe one movie comes out you immediately lose interest in the next - no big reveal, no nothing, all predictable.
What I like about Bay's movies were the fan speculations - a new vehicle on set - i stant speculations, which were entirely wrong. Remember all the weird theories about the flat-nose evasion Prime? Like it was Grimlock, or Megatron - constant mystery. Even with a sort of failed project like TLK you'd still get the mystery. While with G1 - once you move from the storyline you basically get murdered by fans. IMO, no G1 or that kind of crap. It's time for new things, and that is what Bay did right :)

It's the same problem comic book movie face with mixed results. Fans want their favorite stories up on the big screen but as soon as Spider Man puts on the black you know where things are going or you know how the death of Superman is going to work out. Sometimes the old stories on the big screen is huge hit and sometimes the old stories flop at the box office. But then change caries a load of risk as well since people didn't want to turn out for things like the changes made to the Fantastic Four.

I think the more ideal is something like Transformers Animated. Plenty of what an old fan would know but cool twists like an older grumpier Ratchet to make it not feel like a G1 paint by numbers. You don't want so much change that you turn off part of your fan base but at the same time you don't want to be so slavish to the past that the whole thing feels like been there done that.

i agree. under dibonaventura and gang, Arcee would be a walking pile of ugliness. that's why, while Bumblebee is a step in the right direction, i still prefer a complete hard reboot with the old guard tossed out.

“The fifth one was definitely down,” di Bonaventura says. “The audience looks for something new at some point in time, but it’s so hard to judge when. I think the lesson was, after the fourth movie, that was the when. But we didn’t see the fatigue. We didn’t see the signs that they wanted us to change up how we were presenting it.”

This guy is painfully out of touch.

That little phrase here says it all. That tells me there's no intention for honest improvement, or change. Same shit, different presentation. People will eat it up anyway. Heck, they seem to be cheering already. Sad.

They're trying to go Marvel route.

Make seperate main character movies and then build it all up to a team-up under a name "Transformers: More than meets the eye"

The more honest thing to say would have been we were so focused on the theatrical growth in China that we completely ignored the numbers everywhere else. How hard is it to click on some place like Box Office Mojo to see the domestic numbers were down each film since Revenge of the Fallen?
