I was gonna point out Multiforce as well. It was interesting to see him play Megatron's role in the Euro Diaclone comics so it'd be cool to see him be a new Decepticon Leader in the future as a homage to that.

If it had been used, the Ark would've looked like it. Not the other way around.

I still don't think the Ark would be based on it because it looks like a Decepticon.

I have always assumed that a lot of the unused Diaclone characters were not used because the vehicle modes were unfamiliar to kids. But then they quickly moved right into unfamiliar alt modes with the 86 movie characters anyway.

What I would do? I would gather most of the unused Diaclone stuff that didn't have a robot mode (like the Cosmo Roller and Diatrain) and put it all together into an EDC set (since we are talking G1). I am a little uncertain about Skybase. That has a robot, but most of the toy is more about the ship/base, so I may just work it in here in EDC along with Powered Suits.

All of the WatchQ/Kronoform watches would make sense to be companions or equipment for S.T.A.R.S. members. How handy would it be to do some G1 mass shifting and keep a car or jet on your wrist?

I think a lot of the toys could have worked for a "Meanwhile, back on Cybertron..." mail away program. Diabattles, Diattacker, Gats Blocker, Big Powered, Battle Buffalo...even Great Robot Base and Fortress X. All of those things clearly have similar design cues as early G1 stuff (for obvious reasons) but are also set apart by futuristic alt modes. That could have worked for some Cybertronians if I'd had them around 84 or 85.

As a kid, I used my bootleg Metal Man as a physical manifestation of Vector Sigma. I could still see all 3 of the orbs being some kind of supercomputer characters from deep inside Cybertron.

And from my avatar, you may be able to tell that I would have liked Blockman figures to have been incorporated in some way.

I think Powerdasher might have been a toe-dip in the water for that...and Hasbro found the water to be too cold.

Now I wish Hasbro had done that idea long ago. It'd be an awesome way to give us those characters

There's only one way I could truly establish a non-show.

When the established character dramatically turns, peels off their face, and from within, the newcomer cackles triumphantly.

You know, considering how brickish the Combiner Force figures were for RID, I wonder if there would be a market for reissuing the original Diaclone figures by Hasbro within the current Transformers line. Call it "Transformers:1980".

Of course, that's assuming the tooling is even still available. And yes, they'd have to modify some of it to conform to safety standards.

Oh sorry, I was being dramatic. Basically what I meant was that I take the character the pre-TF character I want to bring in, and then add a twist where they were disguised as a recognisable character the whole time, revealing their true nature at the most shocking moment.

Would be fun if nothing else :lol
