It's a shame he has no ankle tilts, that would've made him even better!!

    1) MPMs, despite only having a few entries, have already been criticized for their scaling and accuracy.

    2) Obviously SS and MPM are not comparable and it’s really annoying when people try to do that. Don’t be a troll.

Studio Series is only in scale in a relative sense. It's not like you can take the calipers to them and determine them 100% to scale down to the nanometer or something. Jazz is smaller than Bumblebee, who is smaller than Ratchet, who is smaller than Ironhide, who is smaller than Prime, who is smaller than Brawl, who is smaller than Starscream, who is smaller than Megatron, who is smaller than Blackout. That's as far as the scaling goes. If the character is a head or so taller or shorter than they should be within their range, then no big deal. That's as far as this scale experiment is going.

If the characters were truly to scale, the Grimlock would need to be a Supreme-class thereabouts, and they'd need to bring back the Scout class or double-pack Bumblebee and Jazz and Stinger or something.

Hi all! I just uploaded my video review of Studio series Ironhide over on my YouTube channel! It may not be the best review ever but i think it’s fairly decent! Thanks!

Blimey people get riled up over these things, I didn't mean it personally...
I'll agree that it's probably the best attempt by Hasbro thus far to cram all of the wildly sized movie characters into one line, but that's different to people claiming that these are in "perfect scale", and with third parties filling the gaps in the previous lines it's much more difficult to justify. And you're missing the point if you think Hasbro haven't made a major selling point out of scale - it's on the packaging, it's been in the press releases, and it's the whole reason we're having this conversation.

So your point is "even Hasbro doesn't have a consistent scale, but we who make a massive deal about scale trust them anyway". I agree that the characters vary from scene to scene, but the point is that the scale charts (both of which were posted are official) were the basis for the animators, not to mention the characters turn into consistently sized vehicles. Studio Series doesn't follow either, which is why I'm confused by everyone singing Hasbro's praises when it comes to scale.

I probably sound more fussed by this than I am... I don't collect Studio Series so I don't really care, I'm just confused by the twisted logic people are using when discussing the line.

Jeeze, Prime really did need to be a bit bigger. He should have been just a smiiidge shorter than Starscream.

We'll see what's coming down the pipeline. I'm still of the mind that Prime's the way he is because there's a future Jet Armor/Jetfire in the works, and his various odd design concessions are to facilitate that gimmick.

I feel like we just got a sneak peak at some of the MP transformation steps. Very nice.

As for this figure, I most certainly dig it; a lot!
I will say however, and I should preface this with, I'm not a waist swivel or ankle tilt junkie, buuuuuuuut.....this figure would have been a homerun if it had both of those things. Those tilts would really help in creating that bulky, squat stance of Ironhide. I'm sure it's still fine without them, but darn, wish he had them.

Most certainly picking this up asap along with the MP version.

This is exactly why i wasn't going to even get Prime, HFTD Prime works great here. But of course the first time I saw him in the store I grabbed him and after some heavy custom painting he is just a little better that HFTD Prime so now I'm torn/frustrated. he IS stupidly small.

Nitpicking about scale is absolutely insane, but I must admit Optimus Prime, to my eyes, looks 30% too small. Its weird because his height is spot on but he looks like he could use a hamburger and a crossfit regimen.

Also I am honestly pissed I am too poor to feed ascalper and buy Jazz and Lockdown and Ironhide. x.x

FINALLY! YOU MAGNIFICENT HUMAN BEING, YOU! *HUGS*

And yeah, now I can definitely see why people shied away from these pics, automatic sale killer for most. That said, he's not too terribly out of scale with Optimus in vehicle mode. It's close, because the truck in real life is lifted and massive. I'm going to dig my DOTM Voyager Ironhide back out and see how he looks in both modes next to Optimus.

I really doubt people didn't post pictures of the alt modes because they were afraid it would kill sales. Why would they care? They probably just didn't feel like transforming Optimus lol

I hope that Ironhide gets some good reviews. I have been wanting a good Ironhide to replace my DOTM leader class figure that I have come to regret selling.

A little while back I bought the HFTD Deluxe Ironhide to tide me over for this one, and though this one is more accurate in the details, I don't think I can get behind the lack of ankle tilts, the odd bumper in robot mode, and the wonky scale he causes. At least the HFTD one scales perfectly with both SS Ratchet and Prime in vehicle modes (the car bots are too big in that mode), so it kind of works with the larger vehicles being in their own scale, and the cars being in their own scale.

I may get this at some point, but honestly, I like the ankle tilts and torso of the old deluxe more, and in the movies Ironhide and Ratchet were roughly the same size (though Ironhide was slightly bigger, but the HFTD one is a tad shorter).
