I'm gonna wait for clearer images before I start yelling about how much Takara has sunken and that 3rd parties are now the rulers of the toy industry.

I'm still pretty happy with my MP01...anxious to see what V3 looks like in full color and in action, though.

I definitely like the proportions on this version better, without the monkey arms and such. I want to see what it looks like when painted, that’ll influence my final decision.

As it stands, I’m content with my MP-10; but maybe I’ll switch. Now that MP BW Megatron, that thing looks like pure perfection.

I was more impressed by the camera pic by gamerlingual of the prototype than the pics shown at the panel. Nothing of it screams 'impossibly toon' to me in the way I had hoped. But perhaps it's the angle. If this this can be considered a reveal it's a pretty underwhelming one I'd say.

Hoping for Takara to still reveal what this guy is really about.

Prime 3.0 looks good so far. Will wait for better pictures but I'm getting it regardless. I can't wait for the SG & sleep mode repaints.

I'll probably pass since im not a huge MP collector but I think it looks pretty good (I say this as someone who was skeptical of yet another mp Prime redo). They nailed the proportions and sculpt on this one. Seems like it'll look more natural next to mp-36.

Wow all the recent pics are making me drool!
I stand corrected. @Sam and @ZEGR were keen on the popple, robot chest being right behind the truck windows.

Don’t know if it’s been discussed as I’m 150 comments behind- In robot mode, that back kibble looks like a hinge, maybe part of the truck bumper?

Now, back to reading to catch up!

Let me rephrase it: the level of negativity I've read from you far surpasses the level of positivity. It may just be a perception, it may just be my perception, but when I see your comment in a thread I am now 100% sure that it will be a grievance of some sort. So, in a sense, it is your fault, because my perception certainly stems from the stuff you wrote.

BTW, critiquing is fine, I applaud a well constructed and argumented critique, which yours often are.

Here is the crux of the issue: what exactly is "readily available" for you? Can I, as a Japanese fan, go into a toy shop in Japan and buy a trailer? Can I order it online from a Japanese retailer? No I can't, because it doesn't exist. The only way to get one is to go the route of 3P import/secondary market, and that's not really "readily available." Now, I concur again that we may not need it (I personally have 4 OP trailers - G1, MP-4, MP-10, and Fansproject), but we are hardly representative of the average prospective buyer of this figure.

For me the changes between this and MP-10 are way too petty. It almost seems like they are glorifying the laziness of Sunbow artists and their inconsistency. I dont see a need to hide the wheels. The only reason that was done on the cartoon was because they took shortcuts since they had to draw hundreds of frames for each scene. And while the grill and smoke stacks in robot mode are more accurate to the cartoon art, its really something you have to study a picture next to MP-10 just to notice the difference at a glance. Youre not paying for a revolutionary new transformation here. Youre paying for petty art differences based on hastily drawn screen shots that took 3 minutes to draw.

I do not understand why so many people seem to dislike this.

The body proportions are greatly improved, the chest windows aren't squished, the arms don't look as boxy, the rear half of the truck isn't overly chunky, and the leg kibble is gone.

Maybe the cartoon aesthetic isn't for some people, and that's understandable. But from a design perspective, I personally think this figure is looking very impressive so far.

Ok, expensive like Megs? Yes and maybe even more since TT now has hot toys level prices. Am I crazy about it? Not at all lots of thinks looks off, dont like the proportions. If I got the money I will buy and it will be more like a random guy at my desk. No way it will replace my beloved Mp10 on my shelves. When I look to him it screams Masterpiece. This new guy is just “ok”. But I totally understand now all you veteran collectors who had MP01 and felt frustrated with MP10 release hahahaha.

Will be getting this one for sure, but not exactly as hyped as I was for MP24...Prime fatigue?
Also, please have a trailer-less option; I'm running out of space and I don't really need another one that does the exact same thing as the previous one.

For me, the new 3.0 Prime reminds me of the animation model from the first season of G1 Sunbow cartoons. More slender and heroic looking.

2.0 Prime blocky-stlye always reminds me of the '86 movie and some season 2 episodes like Day of the Machines.

Different animation styles and studios working on the original cartoon which has resulted in different toys being produced by folks who have a different opinion of the definitive version of a character.

Neither style is wrong but they appeal to different tastes.

    Cartoon doesnt always mean better.

3.0 is basically MP Prime (2.0) if he stopped working out

Yeah, I agree with a lot of this. I think fanboyism and one-upmanship is the root of a lot of hate posts too, but undoubtedly the inability (or unwillingness) to buy these very expensive toys plays a huge part.
