You know, now that we've seen the trailer, I almost wonder if this could be true. Optimus_Prowl said he saw a rough cut of some or all of the film, and he said that that seeker is not Starscream. But the colors look just like Starscream. But thinking about it, Jetfire did have similar colors to him. Perhaps this is Jetfire before joining the Autobots?! The Seeker style head makes one think not, but what if this version of Jetfire had a Seeker style head, then had his physical features slightly altered to represent his change to the Autobots?This is an interesting theory to me...

I loved the Bernie Mac(RIP) voiceover/callback to TF1, I loved the female lead, I loved the "girl who loved Powerglide" vibes, I loved this trailer Bravo Paramont you did good!

Again, if his info is correct, hat was a rough cut, they’re doing additional photography now, and if people react like thts Starscream (which the head design looks exactly like a movie-fied G1 screamer), then I’m sure there’s plenty of leeway to change his name or fate.

A lot of things change in postproduction of these movies. Hot Rod’s voice lines weren’t even recorded and put into TLK until very late in the game.

Also, no offense to Optimus_Prowl, but I’m going to remain skeptical of his information. The team at paramount seems to really be playing on TF G1 stuff here, and they seem to know what they’re doing. I highly doubt they’d make a robot who has Starscream’s exact design elements, from the wings on his back to the intake vents on his collar to his helmet shape, just to slap into an unrelated seeker robot.

Well it is just a Teaser Trailer. What's funny is that I didn't even notice that it was a Teaser until I flipped through the pages of this thread I hadn't read yet and saw it linked. I was so excited I just overlooked it and the Teaser was so good I didn't even think it could be a Teaser!  

Supposedly this isn't Starscream, but we'll see.

Actually, I think that'd be interesting if they made it so Bumblebee can talk, but it's so garbled and distorted from whatever damaged he's sustained, that it's just pointless to use it. Would be an interesting way to twist this for the people who hate radio-speak Bumblebee.

Oh, I was mostly skeptical too (still am somewhat), but SilverOptimus, who has seen some inside details as well, seems to believe him, and I have no reason to disbelieve SilverOptimus. But we'll see in due time, I suppose.

 

"The Shape of Energon" lmao Dennis Tzang(sp?) on colider made a similar comment I imagine that Screen Junkies will make it the title of their Honest Trailer for this movie

 

Not familiar with Dennis Tzang, but I’m happy I’m not the only one to make the connection.

 

I do imagine that if it is a seeker by a different name in the current version of the film, with the strong positive reaction from not only fans but also members of a wider audience towards a classic looking scream, there are probably people at Hasbro, paramount, and 3rd party linscensed Merch makers scrambling to change the name of that bot to Starscream on all of their products

 

I wouldn't be surprised if this movie was purposefully crafted so that two versions could be made: One version has links to the Bay-verse movies and is a prequel to them all, and the other swaps out some scenes, dialogue, and characters names (like Starscream), and is a new movie not connected to the Bay-verse movies and is the first movie in a newly rebooted continuity, and the popularity and success of the movie will determine which version it becomes definitively.

I love the new look on Bumblebee! He's so small and chubby, perfect size to be huggable  

I really did like that while Charlie was the voice of the trailer it was very Bumblebee-focused. A lot of action scenes had Bumblebee as the centrepiece. I think that it has a lot to do with the simplified designs. In previous movies the very detailed designes were clear in the close up, but when you did a full body shot or filmed something from the distance you lost that clarity. One thing I did not get enough in previous movies is the amount of body contact and direct character interaction with other characters and environments. Bumblebee hugging Charlie and carrying her is not a big thing, but it means so much! I totally loved that heroic shot of Bumblebee catching the helicopter. Also Bumblebee doing something while still in his car mode is so great! I really liked the scene from the first movie where Bumblebee sabotaged other cars in the lot or how in DOTM they had this armed vehicle mode. More of such things, please!  

I hope that there will be Barricade prominently featured in this. He, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime are my favourites from the Bay series  

Yeah, G1 Starscream (to my recollection) has blue arm guards and blue feet. So it's not just the detail that is missing. However, in other thread someone brought up that the design looks very much like Armada Starscream and I'm willing to agree with them. Armada Starscream is mostly white and red with some dark gray details. Plus he also shares a pretty similar design to G1 Starscream. I think that even IDW comics updated at some poit Starscream's body to match his Armada design.
