IIRC the Canadian Tire exclusives have just been exclusives for other american chains that don't sell in Canada. I have trouble thinking of the Canadian TRU chain as big enough to drive an exclusive product on its own, sadly, but stranger things have definitely happened in terms of exclusives (Aveo Swerve, for example).

Who? Is that those South Park characters?
    I was making a joke. :redface2:
    What the heck is that?

Also, I see people talking about pop-up experimental stores and an experience-based model as if Toys'R'Us Canada had announced they were going to do that, but I've only ever heard that from the new KB Toys, not Toys'R'Us Canada.

Still hoping by some miracle USA toys gets saved. My store is getting empty quick. We stopped getting trucks weeks ago. Last day of buisness is the end of the month. Its still surreal. 5 years at toys is small compared to others, but its heartbreaking. Happy for tru canada tho!

Oh I see, you mean like something designed JUST for Toys R Us. I was thinking more the line of the various exclusives brands pump out all the time.

Yeah, given Canadian Tire gets those, I could see TRU getting the same deal now that they're Canada exclusive. Ironically, Canadian Tire probably has a lot more buying power at this point though.

Its horse-dancing, effectively. An equestrian art that is based around controlling your horse and making it do intricate, graceful movements from a predetermined program.

Certain investors have a history of involvement in the sport of dressage at a high level of international competition.

I get that, but I think it bears being said. The reason they got bought up and maintained is because TRU Canada had managed to stay solvent and profitable while the others around the world hadn’t. Partly that’s market conditions here, but also careful, canny business practices at play.

They’ve done pop-up stuff around Toronto too. There was a flagship store downtown that closed years ago, but they’ll do the odd litte wvwnt thing for big movie tie-ins in the big downtown theatre complexes sometimes.

@RodimusSupreme It's a horse riding discipline. The horse is taught to move as though it were dancing. Both horse and rider have to make the performance look graceful, effortless and relaxed all at once.

B&M succeeds in Canada because we have extremely low population density which makes shipping really expensive. Crossing the border doesn't make it expensive, it's always expensive.

E-commerce only amounted to something like 2% of retail sales in Canada last year.

So basically the shipping and postal companies charge a lot because they travel through endless barron wilderness to deliver to the populated areas? Im not verse in foreign economy issues so im gessing you mean something along those lines...

It might also have something to do with a relatively higher cost that our postal service puts on things, and all sorts of mystery border fees you get if you order things from the states.

Grifter wrote off $77K worth of "business expenses" for said hobby one year too. When you're sucking companies that other people built and other people operate dry to the tune of billions of dollars, it's hard to make a case for taking that sort of handout.

I'm nowhere near Canada, and Toys R Us is just a company, but some part of me rejoices I may actually be able to take my child to a toy store other than Walmart someday.

Even if it requires a vacation to Canada for some toys I could buy for less off Amazon.

Lol....I always wondered why nobody is calling for a border wall to be built between the US and Canada? Arent open borders considered such a threat? All those smugglers bringing contraband back into the US in the form of plastic crack.:)
