Ok, so I looked at the rest of his pics.... Hmm... maaaaaaybe it could work in the story if they write Iceman having gone through some kind of hell. I dunno... maybe having been a 'POW' for a decade or two.
It's hilarious, Kilmer wanted nothing to do with Top Gun but was forced to be in the movie because of a contract. Now he is all but begging to be in this one.
I'd guess they'll have some of the songs from the original movie. "Danger Zone" needs to be in it at the very least. Maybe "Take My Breath Away" or "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" for Maverick maybe reminiscing about his past with Charlie (I'm assuming Kelly McGillis isn't coming back for the movie). Otherwise, a bunch of new songs...maybe even one by Kenny Loggins since well...he did do two songs for the movie, it'd make sense.
They finally found a way to get me to see a new Tom Cruise movie. Damn my insatiable love for jets and pilotry. Because, yes, I do...feel the need... Hopefully it's like 80% jet pron.
As long as they use actual fighters, (and as far as I know that was the only way Cruise would agree to do a sequel), then I'm in.
Yeah we need Kenny Loggins in this new film. His Danger Zone still has that ummpph in my ear when I'm listening to it.
Top Gun is still a guilty pleasure movie, so looking forward to see what they do with the sequel. If they make a good movie, I predict it will have a huge opening full of 40 and 50 something year olds going to see it for nostalgia. I know I will.
This film partial made play games like Afterburner in the Sega days. The the interest carried over when I played Air Force Delta Storm in the Dreamcast. I tried Ace Combat but had a hard time transitioning from Air Force Delta. :
Hopefully reminiscent of the original. The score was great, still mad it hasn't been pressed to CD. Giorgio Moroder(who produced "Take my breath away") still makes music that sounds like it's from the 80's I hope so. Top Gun raised the bar for fighter jet movies and the only thing that's come close since is Les Chevaliers Du Ciel(French movie with Mirage 2000's and Alpha Jets). There's also Speed & Angels but that's a documentary(stands out for filming at the current "Top Gun" with the last Tomcat students and no special effects). I hope that this movie barely has any CG if any and that Boeing and the Navy allow the photographers to shoot as close as possible to the planes. Though the 1st movie used models for the flat spin and shootdown scenes, models were only used at the bare minimum; most flight scenes had the actual aircraft in flight. If the direction and aerial photography is as good as the first movie, we should be in for a treat. The Super Hornet excels in maneuvering at low speeds and high angles of attack.
Les Chevaliers Du Ciel has the most beautiful aerial photography I've ever seen in a movie. While Top Gun is great, Les Chevaliers Du Ciel is in-matched for aircraft flying porn IMO.
Top Gun: Maverick has its work cut out for it. The director for Les Chevaliers du Ciel got clearance from the French Air Force to film as close as 10 feet to the aircraft in the film. Maybe the guy directing Top Gun: Maverick can get the Navy to let him film 5ft away
