These designs look great! Except for Windblade's baby arms. Can't wait to see the toys that are based on these and how much they suck ass by comparison.

 

Barricade\'s making a comeback.

 

Ratchet barricade and soundwave are my favs for now

 

Barricade is just the Earth Wars design and as such not his first G1 jump. He's also been in IDW too.

 

I don't mind her being there, but I do think she is being force fed to us when nobody is really asking for her.

Personally my only problem with her is that she's taking the spotlight from people who deserve it and never really got it (like Jazz).

I really wish Transformers could pull an Armada in character design and an Animated in writing because (with the exception of Prime and Animated) the plot and writing has been awful in Transformers shows. And Cyberverse/Evergreen is showing us that they're too scared to venture too far from G1, which disappoints me. Of course, I think Optimus and Ratchet and even Starscream look fantastic, but Megatron looks barely different than G1, which if you compare to other Megatron designs, looks awful. Animated, Prime, and Armada pulled of the best Megatron designs by far.

I guess TLK Barricade's design lends itself better to the G1 asthetic. And there were plenty of people who preferred the new design.

 

Great updates to old designs, I would love some proper figures ot them.

If they would just drop the stupid "trilogy" bs that occupy 3 freaking years they could do different figures in the same line without having problems, you can call the line something like... oh I don't know, GENERATIONS!!!

 

No sadly. Hasbro can't make nice figures anymore for a good price.

As much as I kind of agree with this, there is some potential. I wish there was more of an effort to make them look less G1. I can see it with Starscream, Optimus, Ratchet, and Soundwave, but Megatron and Shockwave look basically the same as G1. I would have preferred a Prime-style Shockwave head with a red eye and a more Animated-influenced Megatron design. Especially the head and torso.

Hopefully a tad less cliche than movie Hound.

 

Yeah that's fair. I probably should be more considerate to new Barricade fans. I just always preferred his more skull-style face as opposed to his football helmet look.

I like how Hound has the ammo belt arms like the Bay version. Barricade looks straight out of TLk but with a Prime aesthetic. I dig em, hopefully the toys look gud

Don’t give up hope yet. Things happen in cycles. Eventually, G1 characters will see a dip in sales by the mass market. Hasbro will then try to reinvent it. Unfortunately (for you) Optimus, Bumblebee, and Megatron will always be part of the equation. I don’t see Hasbro leaving them out anytime soon.

 

I very much agree with you. What makes every new Transformers series so great is seeing what each character looks like now. If G1 keeps getting rehashed, there's no fun in seeing new designs. (I do absolutely adore movie Jazz's design though.)

 

I agree. Something about the Ratchet and Barricade designs I like.

 

Beast Wars/Machines was the biggest departure. Everyone was a new character, even Primal and BW Megs.

 

Damn shame the toyline for these is such fucking garbage, otherwise I\'d be all over that Barricade.

Wasn’t that a continuation of G1? BW Megs blowing G1 Prime’s head off comes to mind.

 

Beast Wars/Machines wound up being a continuation of G1, but it isn't the regular Optimus, Bumblebee, Prowl, Ironhide, Wheeljack, etc. vs Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, etc. on modern day earth with their respective armies storyline that most Transformers series seem to remake/reboot/rehash. All new characters were running around. Even the two guys who were modeled after the two old leaders weren't basically Optimus and Megatron in new bodies or alternate takes on those classic characters.

 

These designs are basically what I expected. Very G1 like which takes away any surprises sadly. I dig Barricade though. His TLK look really does lend itself nicely in G1.

 

I wish the next Generations line looked like this, instead of "Hey kids, remember when Wheeljack was a box for two minutes?"
