I would offer him a big fat middle finger and a hearty side of FU for scalping like that. If I ever see a Trypticon at Ollies I vow to sell at cost + shipping -OR- trade for a few things.
I managed to score a Trypticon, after missing out on Fortress Maximus at the same discounted price at Ollie's last summer. I know this is a long shot, but would anyone want to do an even trade, in case anyone ended up with an extra Fort Max? I'd also happily trade it for the metal fire escape shelf that showed up at Hobby Lobby last year, which is the perfect size for displaying action figures. There's a very similar (possibly identical) fire escape shelf on Amazon for $100, but the Hobby Lobby one was priced closer to $40.
Got a case of wave 1 PotP Voyagers and wave 2 PotP Leaders at the Super Target in Sarasota off of University
Whiz Bang is still around, but moved to the net sometime around 2000. They sell that rare, one-of-a-kind, prototype stuff,
North Tampa Update: Walgreens (Bruce B Downs and Fletcher intersection) had: 1 x POTP Rippersnapper I find another wave 2 but it's the one I already have lol.
Orlando, I love the city but it’s a dump for collectors. Too over run by scalpers and I’ve encountered several so far. I met the big Hispanic guy who he and his wife were snatching up all the Star Wars At-st’s that Ross had. I had just put my hand on the last one when his wife told me it was hers. I called her out on scalping. She went and told her husband. He came and cussed me out and told me I was doing the same thing. (Little did he know I just met a Florida collector and sold him an Ollie’s Trypticon for cost because that’s what I do). A few moments later I took the At-St to them and told them if they weren’t scalpers that I owe them an apology and the wife told me don’t talk her and something about calling her out in front of her kids. After the numerous f bombs and other assorted profanities her husband slung out, in front of her kids, I think she should be worried about things for her kids other than folks calling her out lol. Anywho, back to Georgia in a few. Maybe there’s a good side I didint get to see and I hope for the true collectors that there is a good side here. To the guy and wife, I don’t believe you’re collectors but if you really are then my apologies still stand. As a sighting, there was a movie hot rod there for $8.99 that I carried around and then put back. I left empty-handed.
As a Florida native, I apologize that that happened to you. However, it isn't a surprise to me any longer. Orlando has become a trash haven full of nasty, angry, and low class people - and yes, I am allowed to say that. I was born here in Central Florida, have never left, and it breaks my heart to see how bad my home town has become. It is an unrecognizable area now. I feel like I have walked onto the set of a George Romero movie when I walk around in public.
Man you're allot more cool headed then I am when it comes to adults cursing at me..F that guy and his wife but good for you for not getting arrested for stuffing a star wars product up their keester, even though they clearly deserved it..sorry Orlando gave you a bad memory bro..
I work law enforcement back home and deal with worse than that. Takes a lot to make me mad and honestly I was the aggressor here and the reality is who am I to say something to them about this? He may be getting them for friends or to help someone but Since this incident I’ve been told this guy used to run a booth at some flea market so I doubt he’s helping anyone but himself. It’s just sad that our hobby has come to this
Well an item on the shelf doesn't belong to her unless she's put it in a cart, even then not until she's actually paid for it. That's some entitlement she has. "It's mine because I want it more." OK whatever. And I have no sightings to report. It's a wasteland up here. I wonder how distribution will change after TRU is completely gone.
That's insane, and yet completely believable. I hate confrontations and conflict, but I also hate rude people. I don't collect much of anything anymore, but I'm glad I find so much on Amazon, eBay, and message boards -- the stores are always picked over anyway (I always assume it's scalpers and not collectors or kids and their parents!), and I don't know how I'd react in a situation like that. Then again, I met two local collectors waiting outside Ollie's for Trypticon last week, neither of whom were TFW2005 posters, but both were pleasant and NORMAL guys. I also met a TFW poster a few months ago for a parking lot swap who was a really good dude. One of my neighbors is actually a big DC Comics figure collector who I knew as a message board poster and occasional trader long before I moved onto this street! So what I'm saying is Orlando has some cool and good collectors, at least.
Waterford Lakes Super Target PotP Leader Optimus Prime PotP Leader Rodimus Prime Studio Series Leader Blackout Studio Series Leader Grimlock ×2 Studio Series Voyager Starscream Studio Series Deluxe Crowbar ×2
Three Last Knight Deluxe "'Uht Ruhd" figures at Waterford Lakes Ross. Boxes were all messed up. I get the feeling it's the old Anti-Scalper Trick taken to quite an extreme, but the figures themselves look fine.
For context, this was “Big Jay” from Artegon, guys; another local treasure. I think he has a store now with the son of Mike, from Mike’s Comics. I thought he’d stop scalping now that he had a vendor license; oh, well. At least he hasn’t killed anyone...? Ahem! Anyway, lol. Thanks again for the Tryp, Kripp! And for standing up to those guys. There’s a lot of bad eggs in town here; I chalk it up to a large, transient tourist population that is easy to take advantage of. However, in the interest of being constructive and offering better alternatives than sending FL visitors and newbies to thieves, scalpers, perverts, and uh.. actual murderers for freaking transformer toys.. can we start compiling a short list of places to recommend folks that keep our collective conscience clean? I can start: It’s a bit of a drive, especially from the themepark area, but I truly believe that Renningers Flea is more than worth it to anyone who has a weekend day wide open. On my last visit, they had booths exclusively dedicated to transformers, legos, marvel legends, and vintage toys, respectively. Not to mention, They have a handful of other booths that sell a huge variety of stuff. Better selection and quantity than Acme, better prices than anywhere else, and almost unilaterally way less, uh, villainy. It’s also just a massive fucking flea market, so it’s a ton of fun. You can get old and new video games, VHS, eight track(!), disneyania, military surplus, fresh produce, vintage clothing, ice cream, handmade fudge, fossils; they have a booth with a little, lazy river of oil that they fry mini donuts in. Out back, there are even more open air booths that sell everything you can think of. You can even buy livestock like goats and bunnies, if that’s something you’re about. I routinely have a better time there than at any local mall or convention. There’s no roller coasters, but I can pretty much guarantee a good time and great toy hunting. Anyone else have any local gems? I know it’s been hard since we lost the Sanford Flea. Hell, it’s been a hard 15 years; Acme fired Todd, Farpoint Comics closed down, as did Überbot and many others; Sci-Fi City is, well.. I have no idea what their plan has been this whole time. There has to be something, though! Where else are all these toys in my house coming from??
Just grabbed this guy at Ross down in Miami on 120th street and 137th Ave. (London square) There's 2 left.
Wait, really? I go up to Melbourne more than I do to Orlando and I've noticed the flea market but never really had the time to look through it. Any specific booths to look out for?
There is a little place in downtown Deland. Forget the name. Heard they have a few things. Might have to check them out.
Damaging boxes on purpose, thats...classy. But I think seeing ML figures returned at Walmart sans the BAF parts, a new low.
