My only disappointment is that the first season is only 18 episodes long, and they are 10 minutes each, meaning the show won't have a long presence unlike previous shows. But hey, if it can tell a good story during it's air time, then I'll be fine.

Plus, Rescue Bots Academy is still happening.

There are characters other than the 1984-86 G1 characters. Let’s use some 1987-1990 characters as the stars.

Complains about lack of character variety, mentions the G1 cast exclusively.

    Heh.

Well, Mr.Sassy Pants, maybe it's because I'm most familiar with G1, having grown up with it.
Besides, many of those same characters are in other series.....G2, Armada, Cybertron...
    So stowe your snarkiness.

I figured I’d pass on this based on some of the toy designs, particularly Grimsy.

But, my hype thrusters are spooling at the possibility that Slipstream might get some characteration beyond being the incarnation of Starscream’s sassiness.

Though she’s pegged to lead the Seekers—and well then could I see Starscream building the Combaticons after an inevitable time-out for inevitable treachery, I’d really love to see Bruticus under Slipstream’s command.

Hell, I wouldn’t mind if Slipstream formed the head, chest plate and shoulder cannons of Bruticus, even if it wouldn’t translate well to an actual toy :p

To be fair, there were plenty of G1 characters that got little to no time in the comics or cartoon. I would love for them and / or the G2 bots to get some love.

I'd kind of like to see something like Animated where they threw in various continuities and served whatever soup came of it. I mean, they made room for Blackout and Strika in that.

May Regular show rest in peace.
That's what I think Generations should move towards, but I know it's just wishful thinking at this point.

Hey, G1 had diversity. Like using seeker and insecticon repaints almost exclusively as Decepticon rank filler and including the same toy as several characters. Who can forget the Throttlebots, a bunch of little cars that were original and had interesting bios but remained unused, that time things were switched up and they gave a minor character the spotlight... Oh, and almost exclusively featuring characters who's toys they wanted to sell. /s

I have no expectations of this. The last good Transformers cartoon was Transformers: Prime. This is not even a problem with Hasbro, but in general, the entire children entertainment industry is going towards making childish cartoons. You can state that I am feeling entitled, and these cartoons are meant for children. However, I grew up in the 1990s, and for about 2 decades, I had the luxury of experiencing an evolution in children media; a transition from children cartoon to more story oriented animated media with heroic and/or slick animation. Then right about the 2010s, everything just fell apart like the last 20 years of progress did not matter. You can not only see these changes in the cartoons, but also the toys.

I completely agree. Shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, TAWOG, and SU were all amazing but are getting swept under the rug because newer shows need airtime. Gotta reboot Thundercats for the second time, right?

In my opinion, Prime worked because it didn't directly try and sell toys and while it had a smaller cast it made almost every character likeable. My favorite character from the show doesn't even talk but still manages to be interesting and hella cool, and even Miko is better than Rusty and junkyard Dr. Light from the successor.

the g1 cast where 90% of them barely have any character to go off of and haven't actually been used in a meaningful capacity since g1, if at all?

like, even the bland-ass prime characters got more to who they are than most g1 guys have.

Prime annoys me. Not because it's not good moreso because it could've been so much better. It's also why RiD15 doesn't annoy me because it is what it is and very upfront and straightforward about it. Prime set expectations because of the type of story they seemed to want to tell and so I judge them by them wheras RiD15 wasn't quite trying to push the envelope (even if it does have better animation than Prime).
