I believe it was a bit more complicated than that. Per their agreement with the U.S. government to avoid further punitive damages against Philip Morris, they're legally obligated not to have their logos or associate their brand with anything toy-related (due to fears of encouraging children to smoke; MP-23 Exhaust would qualify even if it's a Japanese-made toy).

If Exhaust had official Marlboro sponsor logos all over it, that would've possibly opened up PM to all kinds of unwanted litigation, even if it's import shops like BBTS doing the selling within the borders of the United States. Debates about evil aside (I take a dim view of cigarette companies myself), you can't really blame PM for trying to protect itself from more lawsuits that Exhaust's deco could've possibly risked for them. A for-profit company exists to protect its bottom line.

Not really my cup of tea, but I can appreciate the level of fanservice that goes into these Diaclone homages. I see why people get excited by them.

 

This one could be fun. Odds are I won't get it, but it's certainly a possability.

 

I know all of that. It was TFCC that used the red Sunstreaker in fiction and called him Spin-Out, which is an unused name at least.

Probably not, as Hasbro hasn't released much Masterpiece figures recently (Bumblebee, Bluestreak, and SG Optimus are the most recent ones).

Though the Hasbro release of Anime Prowl kind of throws a wrench in that whole thing. Though admittedly, it seems more like a distribution of Takara's than an actual release with their own branding (I could be wrong though).

 

This is going to be a DOPE release!!!

 

At first I read reissue and was hyped but now I see it's an MP and while I'm still happy about it given the likly high price tag I dont think I need this guy like how I wanted exhaust and Tiger track.

The real appeal of this to me would be the car mode. (a huge part of the appeal of any carbot to me)
So we will see if they paint the car in a way that makes sense for a real-world car, unlike Sunstreaker. Otherwise pass.
Also, we will see if they include a toy-based head with it and the cannon hand, both of which should have been included with Sunstreaker but weren't. Otherwise pass.
