maybe it has to do with the fact that they haven't done any one shots that aren't annuals? making an idw tf one shot an "annual" by default? i don't know and i honestly don't care what they call it i just hope Springer dies horrifically, i just hope the Wreckers are ended so definitively and so abhorrently, that no other continuity can even touch the concept for a decade and that we are all burned by the experience

 

Those lips... Overlord? It'd certainly be interesting seeing him team up with Tarantulas.

Well, one thing is for certain, with the end of the current IDW-verse in sight there is a strong possibility that the body count will be even more significant.

You know something I've realized about Overlord?

The grand finale is a few months away, and I don't think there was ever a point in the IDW G1 timeline where Optimus and Overlord ever met...

See, I had a brainstorm that after leaving the DJD at the mercy of Megatron, Overlord would run into a not dead Sixshot and the two of them decide to eff stuff up. So while Sixshot would get revenge on Metroplex for squishing him, Overlord would head to Earth to do the one thing Megatron could never really do: kill Optimus Prime.

And of course, OP would take this about as well as you think he would (not well) and scrambles to fight Overlord head-on because throughout the course of the War, Optimus never once fought Overlord and all OP has to go on is horror stories from the very, VERY few who survived his wrath.

But c'est la vie, I guess.

 

I’m all in! Always good to see burcham showing off his art(even though I love his colouring!) and Geoff Senior will bring some awesome marvel vibes to whatever section he does. I’m curious on what the threat of this story will be. Having tarantulas and overlord teased is cool but it would be kind of a copout to repeat their antagonists instead of making a new one. Any ideas on who they could challenge?

I feel like we’re collectively not making a big enough deal out of the fact that Geoff Senior’s working on this. I’m still so surprised by it. Anything by Nick Roche is an instant buy. Anything with the Wreckers in it is an instant buy. This was already going to fly off the shelves. It didn’t need Senior, but they put him on it anyway.

It’s like being given that shiny new Ferrari you’ve always wanted, then finding out the glove compartment is crammed full of $100 bills. It’s the icing on top of the icing on top of the cake.

 

Will it be a floppy? I'm worried about it looking out of place between my tpbs and getting worn out over time.

Anyway, have it on pre-order in physical form to have the complete trilogy.

Wait, so this is a comic, and not just a text story? Color me interested, then.

 

Pretty gosh darn hyped for this one! For now I'm going to assume Overlord and Tarantulas being on the cover is as a sort of "Springer and Impactor's history looms over them" type of thing, and that they don't show up in the story outside of flashbacks. I'll be happy to be proven wrong though, more Roche Tarantulas would be fucking glorious, still can't get over how brilliantly he wrote that spidery creep in Sins.

Requiem does indeed takes place post-Kup's death.

IDW's website says it's only 48 pages, so I don't think they'd need to bind it like a Dectective Comics #700 situation. That does make the 8 dollar price tag seem a tad extreme though.

 

Well, that answers that. And he even worked into a catalyst for the story.

Some good did come out of Kup’s Death.

 

The Annuals and One-Shots like Redemption and Salvation are bound like TPBs, should be all good in terms of robustness.

“It helped me if anything. It was Carlos' suggestion to have that be an impetus, so Kup being a macguffin AND off the table streamlined the book. On my kids' life, I was done with Kup. I didn't expect to use him again, so wrapped up the Prowl stuff and said goodbye.”
