Ditto with mine, although I never transformed him, so I never potentially loosened any parts. He is a bit on the floppy side, though. Anyway, I had no desire to see him as Hot Rod without the Convoy, so I kept him in bot mode on my shelf.

My TRU Rodimus still also stands tall, no loose joints and has been transformed a couple of times. Nothing loose and nothing broken but after all the horror stories I don't touch him much

I'm surprised nobody ever made a little piece to plug into the alt mode so you don't have to twist the fragile figure in there.

The alt mode is the biggest cheat of all time in MP. It's 90% self contained. Really wish we had a proper Rodimus Prime.

Agreed on every point.. we need a V 2 Rodimus like we needed a V2 Megatron.

I have always been a fan and defender of the MP Rodimus mold. My take remains the same - it is an aesthetically terrific design, it looks outstanding, but functionally it has some issues. The transformation is not entirely intuitive, and can be tedious. I was also bummed that it was not a "one piece transformation" that did not require a separate trailer. Granted, I'm not sure that such an engineering feat is possible where the transformations shown in the G1 cartoon would be doable.

Overall, it's a great mold that looks awesome, and any fans of Hot Rod or Rodimus should definitely have one or more. I leave one in alt mode all the time just because it looks so darned cool.

Personally I'm not convinced it NEEDS a one piece transformation. DX9 Carry was hobbled with a tiny alt mode because of the integrated trailer (it IS an amazingly clever transformation to get there but the result is tiny).
To me both Optimus and Rodimus were clearly cases of the bot forming into the truck cab and the trailer materialising out of Hammer-space only when needed. Ultra Magnus on the other hand should be an all-in-one.
A new Rodimus just needs to form a sporty truck cab and then plug easily into a trailer, which is easy. MP-09 suffers from trying to do a sports car and a sporty truck cab. And honestly for what they accomplished, they did pretty well. I'm not that bothered by the flip around gimmick for truck mode. It's a cheat sure, but it works. Of MP-09's four modes, only the Hot Rod bot mode really suffers, and that's just due to limitations on how much they could shrink it.

100% agree with this. The end result of MP-09's "transformation" into winnebago mode is spectacular, and would only be compromised if they tried to pull off an all in one Carry-style design. A Rodimus design that skips the Hot Rod bot and sports car completely would be the one improvement Takara could make over mp-09.

I still think MP 9 is the best Hot Rod ever made, let alone the best Rodimus ever made. The only real sore spot is the sculpt of the hands.

I would also throw in Rodimus’ Head sculpt, at least on my Hasbro version. Hot Rod’s is perfect.
But yes, the hand sculpt is terrible. At least he has a great “running like the T-1000” pose.

I am afraid that all these reissues and recolors that Hasbro has used this cross branding to put an end to all the masterpieces except the movie masterpieces. What do you all think?

The company that isn't fan friendly having more influence over the company that is was never going to be a good thing.

I wonder if we will also get a TRU Exclusive just like the first release?

I'm hoping they do a little re-tooling. I have the original, and although mine has no issues of breaking or stress points, he just doesn't seem very stable, his guns fall out his hands a lot, and those hands look tiny, that is really my only gripe.

Is it true that takara is done with pre-MP10 molds and that this is a Hasbro Asia release? If so, when did Takara state that they were done?
