How bad are stress marks in this set? Anything to look out for?

They're damn near everywhere. Just about any joint where you can apply any amount of torque on a peg, you'll end up with a stress mark. But to be fair, most IF releases have this problem.

Thanks guys. How bad are they though? Are they likely to crack in the near future? I love the look of this set but hearing about stress marks kinda has me hesitant.

It's hard to know. I have several IF figures (including their first releases) that have stress marks. While I don't handle any of them more than a few times a year, they have held up so far... nothing has broken.

I’m most worried about the mushroom pegs on Vortex and Blast Off’s hips, and, so, Bruticus’ elbows, as well as the nubbin that flicks out Blast Off’s head, @Roanstalker

Mech Fans Toys is supposedly doing a 10% oversized knockoff, but those are still in the prototype stage at best, so it’s not certain they’d be any less fragile.

Still, even if it took a bit, I know some people got replacement parts just cause they saw stress marks.

I bit the bullet on him and got him from Baba. Didn't take long to arrive. I'm very satisfied overall, and he's a lot more fun than Hulkie.

I like that the aesthetics mix G1 with modernized elements and how all the parts (save the flight stands) integrate into the combined mode. He's pretty badass and so far, no joints or tolerances are worrisome, so I assume I got a good set.

    Definitely a cool Legends combiner.

Did I connect this right? Brawl’s leg connection doesn’t seem as sturdy as Swindle’s. It feels like I am going to break it possibly.

Took some pics of how it is connected on mine.

Also it seems mine can’t make a fist?

I think that’s about the most of it, @GunplaGamer

War Giant can’t make a fist, and the knees look like they’re doing what they were intended to do.

It certainly seems fragile, but I’ve assembled and disassembled War Giant a few times and it’s all been fine.

But, if anything does break, emailing or farcebooking Iron Factory will eventually get you some replacement parts.

Thanks! I love this guy and really Brawl's connection is my only real complaint that I cannot fix myself since I do model kits. Also I did chuckle at your Farcebook comment :p

I am going to modify the hands so they can do a fist.

Just going to ask, but is your Brawl slotted all the way in?. Basically, either the connector, or the slot for it, are sliiiiiiightly too big or too small, so you can't fit it all the way in the slot. Try shaving a tiiiiiiiiny bit from inside the slot (or the connector, whatever), since it looks like yours isn't quite flush.

Would the MFT one be close to MT/FP combiners at all?

Maybe, @alex1984, but it’s still in development so it’s a long ways from saying how oversized it will be.

It might be about the size of pile of deluxes, but it might still be a touch smaller.

But, I might just get MFT’s Woah Gigante, or whatever it winds up being called, to leave in combined mode and then leave the Iron Factory bots separated.

Also, I have seen that Thunder Erebus and War Giant are pretty much the same height, but Bruticus has more balanced proportions while Power Master Scourge has a bit of the anime proportioned stubbly arms and big trunk legs.

Really liking these guys and their combined form!

That said, my fingers are hurting what with the super tight parts and tolerances for transformation. A spudger tool is definitely advised.

I still need to get a spudger, over using a lil jeweler’s screwdriver for delicate moments.

But, I can 100% confirm what @Timesynch was feeling.

Still, it’s totally worth it for this beautiful beast.

I don’t think I need the DJD, so maybe that’s a bullet dodged. Though, I may get Nickel and the Pet if they’re really adorable. Then again, maybe Mega Tarn will combine in a less painful and stress inducing manner, since they’re not a scramble city Gattai and more like a Brave series robot.

And, besides having a relaxing and nonthreatening hand feel, it would be super if future IF Gestalts had forward ankle tilt besides an inward flap :D
