I have to agree that the ending was pretty weak, although so far i've only seen the good one. I think the end boss was kinda weak too, but I won't go too much into that for spoilers. But it was such a typical battle that I thought the game deserved better.

I got the game on Friday and already got the ending where you rescue the sisters instead of harvesting them.

Teh heh, I did waste my entire weekend on that game, fun times :) .

I thought the ending was short and sweet. I appreciated it.

Played the demo, seemed like a typical FPS. Possibly interesting story, nice atmosphere, but boring, lame gameplay.

I beat the game, dull ending, easy boss, dynamic gameplay, some replay value... best game ive played so far this year.

trust me, you only got 2 powers and a hand gun. the rest of the game gives you a a dozen more powers and a dozen more weapons and MUCH more interesting settings.

this is all about atmosphere, and the gameplay is anything but boring and lame.

Game Of The Year. I'm calling it right now. Halo, Mario, everybody... go home, this one belongs to Bioshock.

After reading and participating in a few discussions about the game after I finished it, I have to put my foot firmly back in the Bioshock as GoTY, Halo be damned.

A beautiful, grown up piece of art.

    Absoloutely wonderful.

it should be goty whether it actually gets it or not. it destroys every FPWHATEVER i've ever played in the story and atmosphere departments, so halo 3 will have to be something really special to change my mind.

to call bioshock just an FPS is dismissive and insulting.

Yeah, having played it I'm resisting trying to explain it to the folks I know who just said "I hate it because I hate FPS games".

I swear I've barely DONE any FPS stuff...only times I've had to aim are when I choose to, otherwise I can just use Plasmids (which I find require little precise aim) to manipulate enemies. Like, two of them (Electro Bolt and Freeze) hold them STOCK STILL, I can just walk up and hit them in the face.

And yet it's so very awesome. :D  Popped it in for the first time last night and ended up playing for a good 4+ hours straight.

yeah, i wouldn't really call it a fps either, more a fpADVENTURE!, or something to that effect. i think it's invented a new genre? no maybe not.

the more i play this game the more i realise how awesomeness this game is. so much detail with the story and the design. if i recall there was an old thread about games that could be works of art, this is one for sure.

If I'm near an area full of water I like to light them on fire, chase them to the water, shock them, and then shoot them. :ev:

I discovered this move last night myself! Most games I try to conserve my ammo in case things get heavy later, but the design and variety seems to encourage brutal and elaborate overkill!:Gouki:

Well I like the art direction of Bioshock in the demo....

    MASS EFFECT FTW!

Nah, Metroid Prime invented the genre. BioShock is just giving it some much needed love. :D

I'm not reading any of this thread now in fear of spoiler content, but I have played about 2 hours (maybe less) so far and I absolutely love this game.

The style is amazing, I love the art and architecture of the game, the font style, that whole 20's-40's feel of everything. And while the game is fun and challenging it creeps me the hell out, and I love it.

I love being able to search around for various items and other things in the background. I like looking at all of the gory stuff, the stuff written in blood, and the propaganda and advertisements that are about.

I think I will go out on a limb and say GoTY (I am sure others have mentioned that already)> Halo may be a big dog in the yard, but this game just feels so fresh and stylish, and more than just another game.

I need to hurry up and get through Twilight Princess (since that was what I was working on completing before getting this game) so I can focus my attention solely on Bioshock.

    What happens in 27 days?

I should be done with TP this week. I will still be sneaking in some Bioshock time when I can.
