Role pad? If you mean the touch pad then every laptop made in the last 10 years has one of those . The designer we have at work actually uses a Wacom tablet and e-pen. Those things are amazing for design work.

Thanks! And I guess yeah any good computer with a touch pad would work, just that and a mouse is the important part.

At art college, there was a bias for Macs, but I HATED using them. I usually did my work on a PC, and these days, do most art or pic editing on my Android devices.

Plenty of them still do, but you're right, it was never very easy (there are still some things that only work on one, which is a pain in the butt). I actually hated Macs for the longest time, and now I prefer them. Go figure.
At least it's still less broken than every single Windows 10 installation I've ever had (including family members). And now my personal copy has deactivated itself for about the fiftieth time. Good job, Microsoft, you got beaten by the hipster company.
Not sure what you mean by "role pad". The touchpad on a MacBook is indeed the best one on any computer (especially the current ones) - I'm not really sure why someone hasn't tried to copy it yet (all the other OEMs make pretty shitty ones). If you mean the Touch Bar on the newer MacBooks (heh, Mac autocorrect wanted it capitalised, so I guess I'll leave it there just for you, Apple), I haven't used it because my Mac isn't new enough, but I don't think it's really necessary.
Personally, I rarely even use the lasso tool, though I'm not very good at Photoshop, so there's that. I'd say something like a graphics tablet would be better overall, but then that's just extra money (and Photoshop costs more than enough already).

Hmm, upgrading my interest to maybe.
I've no interest in a Prime but if they do the Magnus repaint then hell yeah, might even swap the mp out for it.

A PC with an Apple Cinema display is a popular combo in some design shops :)

I believe Apple stopped selling those separately a year or two ago, which is a real shame because they're gorgeous (albeit extremely expensive) monitors.
Most of the people I work with use MacBooks, but then again, they're all hipsters (but I'm not, I swear - I'm just a greasy nerd).

Heh. I mix and match. Windows 8 laptop at work (yep "8" - our IT dept are pretty average) while I swap between OsX and Win 10 bootcamped on a MacBook Air for personal portability. My main machine is a Windows 10 desktop hooked up to a 47" TV for gaming and general computer use. Big HD TVs make great monitors once you get used to the size .

Well I guess I’ve derailed this thread with computers.

I think some of the reason Macs are still popular in the graphic design field is for legacy reasons. I started using Macs when OSX 10.2 or 10.3 was current, and back then there was more of a reason to use Macs over Windows for a lot of different fields. I pretty much kept a Windows PC around just for gaming, and did everything else on a Mac. Windows and Windows-compatibility have both improved over the years, while Mac OS peaked around 10.6 and has just been more iOS-ified since. These days I still have a Mac mini lying around but I rarely use it.

What’s to stay on topic? It looks cool, a magnus deco is possible and maybe they’ll attempt other designs. Also sorry for making everyone talk about computers.

The discussion strayed to computers, which is not the topic of this thread. It's not a problem though it is annoying seeing an alert from this thread and it's about something off topic.

To stay on topic, I wonder if the joints on this will be good. Tfc's figures (from what I've noticed) tend to squeak. That may have changed and can also be fixed but it is bothersome having to do some DIY work on something pricey.

Love the design, but......TFC. I dunno, probably going to have to see a review first.

    Typical Australian, I swear.
I'm sure they'll keep it well-stocked so I doubt there will be any hurry. I'm certainly not pre-ordering it even though I want it.

    Whoa..

Looks a lot darn better than the previous attempt at Rolling Thunder Optimus, that's for sure.
