So, I'm not entirely sure if this is correct, but I haven't seen Ready Player One yet and it might be interesting to post this here so that others who go see or have already watched the film can either corroborate or deny it. According to the Ready Player One wiki, there are a couple of instances where Transformers make cameo appearances:

• Megatron and Sentinel Prime can be seen transforming into vehicle mode on the Oasis racetrack
• Onslaught can be seen entering a PVP Portal in the Oasis
• Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Nitro Zeus can be seen among the crowd of Oasis civilians during the final battle along

 

I highly doubt some of those cameos are legit, so people should take this with a grain of salt.

 

I went and saw it last night. I didn’t see any Transformers during the final battle, but I still believe it might be true. There is so much going on in this movie it’s extremely hard to see it all. There are references we won’t see until we can freeze frame it when it comes out on DVD.

 

I didn't see a single TF. I don't doubt maybe one was in there, but I was looking. Watched the race scene, and the final battle as close as I could and didn't see anybot.

Which is a shame, I was hoping to see Sentinel again. Any excuse to see him again is a good excuse.

 

I didnt see any tfs and was vigilant to the possibility, but I think it has to do with licensing issues. I didnt see any Hasbro related property.

Didn't notice any transformers, but I can't be sure there wasn't any because action scene were filled with characters and I tend to not care much of bayformers. Speaking of which, it would be pretty bad if in a film where one of the main themese is 80s nostalgia the transformers cameos aren't G1.

 

The book might have been 80s pop culture, but Tracer from Overwatch makes a cameo in the movie.

 

I know, in fact I didn't like too much how they handled the cameos and references, even if I understand that securing the licenses was much more difficult than in the book.

 

This would explain it:

 

No joke, I built an Optimus Prime costume for Halloween a few years back and some woman with her kid going trick-or-treating literally asked me if I was Lord Business. Power Ranger was her second guess. She had absolutely no clue who the Transformers were despite Age of Extinction, for all it's flaws, coming out that year.

 

Transformers were mentioned in a single sentence in the book, so I doubt they would get that much screen time in the movie.

 

I'm not 100% positive but towards the very beginning of the movie when Wade is talking about the different worlds there is a truck that flies past the screen that looks like TFP Optimus Prime in truck mode with his trailer (after you see the Wizard of Oz house flying by). I work at a movie theater so I've looked at it a few times to make sure but aside from that I didn't catch anything.

Yeah that red truck screams prime but not sure. (my family thought it was him) My friend said he saw bumblebee but I didn't see him. (did see the voltron lion however!)

 

I saw it on saturday I don't remember seeing any transformers.You see things in the background that MIGHT be and probably are robots but thats about it.At one point you very briefly see the turtles from OTS near the end Tracer appears about twice both times very briefly and a few dc cameos and appearances from certain movies like the delorean king kong and a ton of other stuff like the bike from Akira

 

In the official trailer just after 2 mins in, it does look like a version of prime in G1 form is shown. Looks thin but very similar.
