Cool idea to 3-D print new symbols for the PM slots.

May as well do up a quick how-to.

    Software required: Inkscape, tinkercad.com, cloud.netfabb.com.

Take your desired image and paste it into inkscape. Works easiest with a clear two color image, like those shared above.

Something like this. Clean lines, not a lot of jpeg artifacts.

    Path -> Trace Bitmap.
    Check [✓] Live Preview

Enlarge the new vector image, and delete the old pixel image. Save the image as a .svg file.

In Tinkercad, copy the PrimeMaster Blank.

Import the new svg file. Resize the image while holding shift, until it is a bit more than 14 mm in the longer dimension. Release shift, and increase the image height to about 10 mm.

You can merge the image with one of the blank/hole images at the top, to give it a 3d shape.

    Imgur

Move the new piece to above the primemaster back. Select the objects and Group them (circle square near the top right). Export the file as a .stl file.

Visit cloud.netfabb.com and log in however you can. Upload your stl file, and then download the new *_fixed.stl file. That is the file to 3D print.

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but the tolerances seem way off. I tried to make the LSC one yesterday, and I can't get the two pieces together.

I never knew how much I needed a Dinobot Tarn in my life, but I’m glad someone has done such.

And, this thread is a genuine pleasure, WayGroovy, in my search for legends sized LSC i.e. Dynobutt stickers or water slide decals.

Now, if only I could pass a message to MMC or IronFactory or, I know, @LazyAza...

    :p

You are a life-saver! I've been looking for spare Matrix handles, and this was a great base to work with. A small tweak to add the handle cut-outs and I had exactly what I needed!

And the real reason I wanted this, for my eventual Star Convoy:

I do love 3D printing and the way we can just do things like that.

Just wish I had more time to devote to it.

I don't know if this thread is still going but could you do one with the Star Seeker?
