Bville store employee confirmed Friday is when the sale starts and they'll be closing towards the end of May.
Was going to go down to Minnetonka this week to try to snag a Primus, but I guess that is off the table now. It'll be easier for me to get one from Blaine or Maplewood when they start their closeouts I guess, since I'm on the north side. Did sales start over the weekend? What are they starting out discounts at? @Marto6 Did you get your Primus? If not I can look out for one when I'm looking for mine as well. Hopefully we can snag one around 30% off.
This morning after work I decided to do a little Toys R Us run as a sort of goodbye tribute to the chain. First stop was Minnetonka TRU to see how its clearance has been going. Store was TRASHED. As others mentioned, there were no Transformer toys left in the store. Nothing really of interest at all (for me anyway). Spent a bit though just walking along the aisles, some of which had toys littered all over them as a few employees attempted to clean them up by putting the toys into carts. Second stop was Maple Grove TRU, and I remembered why I never liked this store. So tiny and the selections were crap. Nothing of interest found there. And final stop, the store I grew up with, Blaine (Northtown) TRU. It had a good amount of cars outside. I took a few photos of the outside as well as a few inside for the heck of it. Inside, people were shopping along with their kids. I ended up buying a "Back in Black" Marvel Legends Deadpool as well as a Scarlet Spider/Carrion Marvel Minimates 2-pack in what might be my final purchase from TRU ever. Noticed some of the employees I had seen working there for years working, and chatted a bit. Nothing about the store closures, just toy stuff. (I know what it's like to be working for a business that is closing down.) Ended the TRU tour at the Taco Bell nearby to have some of those Nacho Fries with a $5 box lunch. Not bad, not great. Anyway, just thought I'd do this because I doubt I'll be attempting any clearance/liquidation runs. Those are like Black Friday from what I've heard.
Hoping to make a clearance run to Northtown and Maplewood once they hit the 30% range. So far they haven't started any markdowns yet? Any TF left there (specifically hoping to snag a Primus and maybe G2 CW boxset at discount)? Also, I keep forgetting to ask about the Lego situation at the closing TRUs. Wondering if they are even going to discount Lego or if they just sent them back to be sold elsewhere? People who went to the Minnetonka closeouts - did Lego ever go on discount?
Once again thanks to Kham I grabbed the only Moonracer (and only deluxe) from WSP Target. Currently at Richfield Target (66th st and hwy 77) holding the last Blackwing. 1 Sludge, 1 Snarl, and 2 Rippersnappers remain.
Wait, they're at Target now? What fortuitous timing with the current sale price. Any sightings of the Wave 2 Primemasters: Alchemist/Submarauder & Alpha Trion/Landmine.
No Wave 2 Primemasters seen today. I'm guessing Targets are getting their deluxe stock replenished this week BECAUSE of the sale. Deluxe DCPI is 087-06-5863 if anyone wants to try Brickseek. Target got wise and their scanners don't show if they have any in the stockroom anymore.
They've been going in-and-out of stock at Amazon, too. Right now, though, they only have the Primemasters and Rippersnapper...
Wife was at Northtown TRU and she said no discounts yet. Sounds like it should start on or around the 22nd. Guessing they'll only start at 10% for that first weekend generally though right?
You should def buy Primus at 30% off, I still saw 3 Primus at Minnetonka when it was 30% off. Once 40% hit, they whole TFs section vanished without a trace. In terms of Lego, a lot of them have yellow stickers on them that says they are excluded but scan them anyways because some do come up as discounted.
The Primemasters unfortunately haven't been dropped to MSRP yet. Hopefully once they do itlli be as something other than Add-Ons.
If you're still interested in TLK, Eagan Walmart has knocked Voyagers down to $7. Picked up the last Nitro. That's it for their stock, but AV had a few Hound and some Sqweeks recently. So it may not hurt to poke around if you were ever on the fence.
In case you were living under a rock, eBay is having a 15% off anything up to ~$333 coupon today. I reckon there are some deals to be had.
Hopefully, I'll find Sludge, Snarl, and Rippersnapper around here, but North Metro is always such a crap-shoot and with TRU closing, that's one less place of possibility to find stuff. If anyone sees the Marvel Legends 90s Cable and 90s Deadpool, could you pick them up for me? I'll gladly pay you back as I'm trying to stay strictly with collecting 90s X-Men figures in the line...and the Fantastic Four stuff, but I'm good on those.
