I probably should have titled the thread "The gaps you will have in your MP collection".

How can the thread title be changed?

 

My MP goal is to have a MP of every Character represented in the shows Sunbow, Headmasters, Super-god Masterforce, Victory, Zone (Some of that is an enormous stretch I know).

I've been buying 3P to fill in gaps on figures I think that would never, ever get an official release. My major notables are:

Season 1:
Cliffjumper

Season 2:
Hoist
Skids
Defensor
Superion (FT to the rescue!)
Alpha Trion
Autobot X
Chromia
Elita One
Orion Pax
Astrotrain
Blitzwing (FT)

Season 3:

I know the large Transformers are a long shot, but FT gave us Omega so I think they could pull off a Metroplex and Trypticon in the same way as Omega. Giving us releases in parts. Could take years but could be done.

I could see some figures post BW getting MP treatment, but not many. G1 and BW had more memorable characters that have huge followings that would draw a lot of $$.

 

How would we know what gaps we are GOING to have if TT wont tell us what is coming up? We can probably take a guess as to what they WON'T release, but there is no guarantee a 3P will fill that gap either. Trying to tightly structure your question is going to result in two possible responses: A. Someone is going to say they are TT PM all the way, no exceptions, B: I don't care who makes the thing, just as long as it is good.

 

I've already dipped into the shallow end of the 3P pool party. I have BadCube Brawny, Cubix Huff (the first issue), (Unfortunately) Onmigonix Spinout (Sunstreaker), Downbeat (Jazz), Gundog (Hound) and Ace Tumbler (Cliffjumper).

I'm looking to get Fans Toys Phoenix at some point and a decent Windcharger, but don't want to pay $80+ for a minibot. If TT keeps announcing BW and movie crap, I'm going to depend on 3P to complete my collection. I'm waiting on TT for Trailbreaker as I don't really like any of the 3P counterparts.

 

Firstly, no offence, but on this board most people don’t rely on HasTak announcements for their future MP fix. Waiting for HasTak to complete a full G1 MP roster would take decades at the rate they’re going, and 3P probably account for 80% of most peoples collections over here… hence my alluding to how close to complete most collections will be by now.

And you only understood part of my question… yes, at this point we CAN probably take a guess as to what WON'T be released, either officially or 3P, but I wasn’t asking whether people were HasTak diehards or are happy with 3P versions… I was asking that for those figures we assume are never going to get a MP representation of any kind, are people going to leave those spaces empty (as it’s MP or nothing), or are they prepared to take a figure of lesser quality if it’s available, eg. CHUG or Legends?

I also wasn’t asking for lists of everything people are missing from their collection… those threads have been done so many times before. I’m more interested in how people feel about completing their collections. Will they leave it incomplete or are they willing to compromise?

 

I am not much of a Beast Wars fan, but if someone did a decent Masterpiece Beast Wars Inferno, I would buy it in a heartbeat (love that guy; makes me crack up every time he is on screen).

Someone get to work on that now.

 

No compromise for me, in that my collection will be MP only. However, I am not wedded to HasTak. Just want a great representation of the figures I have targeted. I am only just starting out on this MP thing and feel that eventually someone (HasTak or 3P) will get around to making, or reissuing, the figures I need to get. I want a specific aesthetic and will not compromise and fill in with figures whose aesthetic don't fit.

 

To clarify my earlier post I will stick to the OP's rules and say the ones I doubt will ever get made (and ultimately end up in my collection).

Hey oaf,even tho what you say may have merit,the chances right now could be 50/50 since a lot of 3P's change plans so often,like so many figures have been scrapped over the years that made way for more interesting figures (Sorry can't think of any right now).But my point is like the old saying "Here Today,Gone Tomorrow",so I'm not holding out much hope that these will pan out,and even if they do then it will be atleast 2 years for them to happen.

 

I'm missing minibots. None have been very appealing to me.

The biggest hole is the triple changers and the classic seekers. I have the toyworld coneheads cuz mp11 is too small for me and they haven't released the classic seekers in that size yet.

 

MP releases of: Skids (and diaclone) , Browning, Diaclone MP10 (powered convoy to match Delta Magnus), Tarantulas, G1 Jetfire, TFP Knockout, Devcon, Raiden.

 

I am not sure how they can do a 'MP' of the deluxe insecticons or whirl/roadbuster, or the jumpstarters as they don't have T.V. Airtime and never been shown to represent the character. Skids barely had any screen time himself. What will ultimately be missing from my collection is just Sky Lynx as I have a version of 90% everything now. Where to go after season 3 characters? I guess Headmasters and 'other'masters, I have a good jump on them but, I don't know, maybe just do what I am doing now and just upgrade characters that's had MP made of them. to think, I was satisfied 11 years ago with mainly Alternators as the 'MP' line, and now I love where it went. Even now, I have to say, I wouldn't mind a better Cliffjumper (like XTB), BUT Ace will do. Considering I had a classics for a stand in, that is an upgrade! I cant stand 'gaps', being a completionist, not having a Sky Lynx is an annoyance and will continue to bug me until I can get one made or get one in some manner.
Skids, IS getting made and soon the last Alternator will go bye-bye. As collecting The basic MP collection up to season 3? Either move on to Season 4 or just keep eye out for better versions. No gaps, but 1.

This is a deviation from the question because some of these characters DO have figures, but they don’t really fit the “MP Scale” rule in my book.

• Dinoking: the FP figures and shells look okay
• Lio Kaiser: the TFC version isn’t cutting it for me
• Deszaras: An MP version was teased but will that come to fruition?
• Greatshot: MMC took a stab at it but where is the Hydra repaint?
• Galaxy Shuttle: No versions
• Landcross: The Multiforce combiner

Any combo of these figures (as long as Deszaras is included) works for me.
