    LoL.

I mean I'm not crazy about either show, but I was able to watch Prime. RiD lost me after the second or third episode.

I like RiD because it did what all animations need to do: get kids interested.

Kids drive a lot of the sales and give us more content. Having the kids like it as well as the adults is why things can last so long we want it to be "timeless". (Star Wars)

Prime failed in that measure it's far from timeless and rewatching tends to take a degree of the fun from it. Prime also had plot holes never discussed and usually just dropped. Some of the episodes were painfully resolved in ways that seemed incredibly out of character. RID has similar problems.

RID has my most favorite episode of all time in it. Because it creates a very Animated/G1/creative atmosphere that really embraces the audiences variety of ages. It's a close margin but I think RID is "better".

I felt it had a lot of good points as well as some laughable moments. As a standalone episode, it was super good and I feel if the whole series had that same kind of hijinks RID would be super likable even by adults. It's rewatchable and you can still have fun with it.

Like TFCybertron, TFP was the second show I managed to watch til the very end and I made it a tradition in my life to celebrate an anniversary for good memories. I make a small cake with a single candle, my TFP toys sitting with me and just watch all three seasons and the movie for a whole day. It made me laugh with Bulkhead’s girly scream, it made me cry when Optimus made the ultimate sacrifice, and it made me love Predaking as an individual instead of being a combiner. Motherfucking dragons please!

I'm gonna be brief and just say Prime is my preferred show. Rid isnt offensive (its like the new Armada, Car Robots) but it has two major flaws for me.

    1) Its written for kids in mind. As weird as this sound but the cartoons I watched as a kid and remember weren't dumbed down for my audience. PBS Cyberchase for example. Kids going into the internet to stop The Hacker. They don't frame it as "Lets learn math" like a Dora the Explorer clone. It's more "We need to solve this equation or the internet will break". If you're going to have a show with low stakes and is generally considered "safe for kids" then I must point you to Rescue Bots which already existed and did the job better. Besides I think Reverend Wilbert Awdry (aka the creator of Thomas the Tank Engine) put it best.

    2) The toys. The main line is ok (I didnt invest that much) but then you look at how much else it has going on. To compare Prime/PRiD had the standard figures, cyberverse sets, and 2 weaponizers. Meanwhile we look at RiD and we see the standard line, cyberverse, 1 step changers, 3 step changers, mini con deployers, activators, combiners, and crash combiners. These didnt appear all at once but the line was spread too thin. Keep the basics and the small scaled figures then choose one gimmick. Going overboard just wastes plastic and money.

Like I said its not a bad show as its like Armada or Car Robots. Kids will watch it but once they grow older I doubt theyre going to go back and say "yay thats what my childhood is about".

Prime was far better in my opinion. The characters, the art style, the setting, etc. RiD was cool, but I didn't love it as much as I liked Prime. Prime has it's fair share of faults and hiccups, but they're small in comparison to RiD's honestly.

    Animated.

Prime only recycled Animated and did not bring not much characters or originality.

RiD had great first season, but it become weaker and weaker.

I guess Prime, but it'll take some explanation.

I often fall into the trap of seeing Prime through rose-colored glasses, since I have fond memories of watching it in middle school. However, when I look back at it now, I see that it's not quite as good as I remember. Not that it's a bad show, but it definitely has flaws. Although it's still entertaining and interesting, don't get me wrong. All in all, I would give Prime a "B". It's an above-average cartoon, although it's not perfect.

RiD...I found almost all of RiD to be extremely boring. I respect that as an 18-year old male, I am not the target audience for RiD 2015, but, if you're strictly asking my opinion, RiD was boring. Besides the Starscream arc, I just didn't find most of the show to be especially interesting. I respect that RiD tried to do something different than other TF series, but it felt really dumbed-down, even for a kids show. And the wasted potential...oh gosh the wasted potential. Prime had this too, but I feel like RiD's was definitely worse. Season 3 had a lot of potential with plot points like Soundwave, the Stunticons and the council. Unfortunately, these plot points got virtually no payoff. All in all, I would give RiD a "D".

    So, for me, Prime>RiD

This is tough, I feel like both had their ups and downs.

I like the design work of RID better, it feels like a more refined version of Prime (although part of this may be that the stylized designs lend themselves to cartoony animation more than realistic animation.) I think the faces look a lot better especially. I feel like the robots are more creative and distinct in RID, wee have Dinobos, mini-cons, combiners, etc. In Prime almost everyone is a car or jet, and a lot of the transformations are very similar. No small Transformers at all (aside from Laserbeak).

Overall, I think Prime wins for me because the storylines and atmosphere were more memorable to me. I haven't watched the show in years and I still remember the overall story (and a lot of individual episodes), but I can't remember a lot about RID's story despite finishing it a couple months ago. I recall enjoying the finale, but I can't actually remember much of what happened in it, lol. Prime had a certain grit and seriousness to it that made it stand out.

Prime is infinitely better. I prefer Prime's handling of the characters foremost, and definitely prefer the humanoid primary modes of Prime to the animal-themed ones of RID. Not to mention the plot is more cohesive and not just "random villain of the week" with all of their lessons learned amounting to nothing, since RID just has every character revert right back to their old ways at the end of each episode.

...how is that not Prime, if only more drawn out? Absolutely nothing ever panned out to be a long term threat and things outright got reset for the Autobots if it was a less than perfect resolution. The only important things that ever even happened in Prime occured at the end of each season and each time the following season (or film, in the case of Season 3) completely negated any lasting effects.

Season 1, Unicron is awakened and Prime has to lose his memories...until S2 E3 or something where he gets them all back penalty free and the only consequence is he decoded only some of the oh-so-important "relics"...which are just glorified accessories stolen from Decepticon R&D durring the war, really, since the only actual relics were the Forge Hammer and ultimately the Star Saber... and most of the lesser "relics" don't even survive their introduction episode. Not to mention it raises the question of why did Alpha Trion, who knew full well Earth was Unicron because he helped put the guy there in the first place, send a bunch of powerful "relics" to sit on top of the most evil thing known to Cybertronian kind? One would think that inevitably sending the war to take place on top of an evil god and risk waking him up - which is exactly what happened - would be kind of a really bad idea.

Season 2 has Megatron blow up the autobot base, set up New Iacon on top of it, Prime's dead, and the Autobots are scattered. By S3 E4 literally none of that is true anymore because Prime got resurrected in a new body, New Icon is a smoking crater, and the Bots really just went from one disused army base to a slightly more newer, not-in-a-mountain army base. I mean, sure, the Omega Lock is toast but more on that in a minute.

Season 3 pretty much wasted most of its time rehashing the S2 "treasure hunt" for bones, which beyond Predaking goes nowhere because Megatron's leaking lubricant because Predaking grew a spine and had completely reasonable requests in return for being loyal to the Decepticons. The fact melting the unfinished protoforms makes "cybermatter' is a total cheap asspull not ever mentioned as being possible before, but somehow becomes even more important that the Predacon because he gets kicked out of an airlock right before the final episodes. Said cybermatter then not only completely reverses the entire sacrifice Prime had to make when he destroyed the Omega Lock to save the kids by simply restoring the damn laser penalty free, but also clocks Bumblebee's resurection faster than really any of Prime's resurections and gives him his voice back (though giving Bee the Megatron kill instead of Prime along with restoring his voice which Megatron took is something I don't actually hold against the show). Also, the Autobots now have the magic laser and can fix their planet, because all S3 essentially did besides revive prime and give bee his voice back, was completely undo the only major consequence that ever negatively affected the Autobots in the entire show's run.

Predacons Rising is really kind of a misnomer because the Predacons aren't even really the major threat, disregarding the fact there's only three of them now and the most important thing they do is fight each other until Shockwave tells them to go fight the actual threat. Instead, it's about Unicron somehow waking back up and in the only case of the show actually playing on stuff that happened before, possesses and upgrades Megatron into a puppet body because he'd shoved Dark Energon into himself three seasons back. Then at the end, the Predacons don't even do anything because before the undead predacons can mess up the core or whatever, Prime pulls its biggest asspull by having Unicron somehow not notice the AllSpark container does not have the AllSpark in it, and then that somehow means Unicron is trapped inside it for some inexplicable reason. Prime then drops the exposition about how he saved the planet with knowledge never even mentioned once beforehand (like how Unicron is apparently energy on the level of the AllSpark, even though the AllSpark itself is not a god), then because he shoved the AllSpark into himself, he has to fly into the core of the planet because reasons. Also, Megatron is alive again, gets off scot-free "because he's good now" or something(?) and just flies off into space...right where he basically started the series from back in episode 1.

And then RID happened and while I never bothered watching it...I'm pretty sure all the Optimus Prime toys and promotional imagery indicate the "fly into the core to become one with the AllSpark" or whatever didn't really stick when it comes to the whole "he's perma-dead" part.

Much later edit: Correction on the Predacons, because they do actually end up going after Starscream...but of course THAT rather perfect ending got overturned when Starscream showed up in RID evidently having defeated the three Predacons on his own anyway, rendering them completely pointless in the entire show. Which is sad because Predaking himself was actually one of the series' best characters.

You seriously thought the first season was the best? even with that weak ass season finally? I'm not judging just thought the lead upn was not worth the pay off.

I did not say it is the best.

RiD started slowly, but very decent, but in season two it was still same, one-shot Decepticons, later repaint of previous models.

That six episodes with Starscream were interesting.

I think that golden age of Transformers end for several years.

There is nothing I loved about RID but few funny moments.
Bots are too weak and beaten by a single deception a lot.
Almost all episodes are the same detect Con signal,go after it whole team gets wrecked go back then ahdhsks capture con somehow eeeehhh bzzzttt
Boring story (assuming you have a reason to say it has a story at all or bla bla bla....)I never got curious or excited for the next episode since almost all episodes are alike.
Other cool characters such as soundwave and scream are wasted(come back for a few mins then cya)
Fights are not violent and crucial unlike in TFP and made me yawn a lot. Zzzzz..zz

I only watched it till the end because I hoped to see something interesting.(Disappointed ofc)

Those are my opinions. No hate on RID fans of course if you like it that's fine.

I've never seen RID but I don't see the problem with the autobots being beaten by a single decepticon - that just shows how powerful the Decepticons are to the Autobots. It's power scaling so that when the Autobots win, the victory actually feels like it matters...instead of in Prime where the Autobots just burned through the Decepticons like nothing.
