Let’s not forget his memorable guest appearance on the Star Trek: TNG episode “Half a Life”, as an important scientist whose planet’s culture forces him to commit ritual suicide at a certain age.

Now THAT is rap music. And without heavy language.

    Rest peacefully, Craig Mack. :(

The man was 76, and had struggled with a significant debilitating condition for the better part of his life. When he was first diagnosed, he was given poor odds of living to 30. What's so hard to believe?

We are all poorer having lost his brilliant mind, and inspiring pursuit of scientific discovery. He was a man who refused to let even a failing body stand in the way of his towering intellect. I hope that wherever he is, he is free, and open to the full wonder of the universe he strove to understand.

The man himself said “I have lived with the prospect of an early death for the last 49 years. I’m not afraid of death, but I’m in no hurry to die. I have so much I want to do first.”

I think he did enough. Rest in Peace, Dr. Hawking.

A sad loss for the universe.

Can't help but think how BBT will deal with his passing. He's been on the show and mentioned so much, they will have to have a touching send off I would think.

Told he was going to die before he saw the age of 30, made it 46 years past that. He made good use of that time.

I think they meant unbelievable just out of sadness, not genuine disbelief.

Truly sad. What a human being. He was the Snoop Dogg of science, to quote ERB. We were so, so lucky to have his mind and wisdom.
