I'm planning on wall mounting a UCS X-Wing. I think one wall mount could hold the weight in a level, static pose, but I want something more dynamic like in a dive. I came to the conclusion that a second wall mount, arm and brick adapter would be best to hold the weight in the front and rear, and more evenly distribute the weight because it'll be kicked off at some odd angles. The YetiStand Alpha did hold the UCS X-Wing with no problem when the weight was evenly balanced over the stand. I don't have the Death Stars either and don't know what they weigh, but I've found weight distribution is the determing factor for what's possible.

Playing with my Death Star last night... It has a lot of weight. There is the added difficulty of dealing with the bottom deck having a large open central bay. Just from the pressure on the Legos themselves, it might take three or four separate mounts to be secure. Maybe one attachment for the lowest level and two on opposing sides of level 2. I will keep mulling it over.

My wife thinks it would look great suspended from the ceiling. That would probably mean an acrylic shelf floating on four wires.

Or I can just get a corner bookshelf with a lazy susan on top. I just really like the idea of it flying off the wall.

If the bottom is flat with the typical Lego stud pattern, the Lego adapter (or two) may work. You'd probably need a couple XL arms to distributed the weight back to a wall mount or two. I found the Lego adapter to be really secure so you may be able to kick it off to a slight angle. Just gotta keep the weight centered over the Lego adapter.

So I’m thinking about using your set up with a wall mount. My question is. You have a short arm that leads off of the base. Do you think if I used an xl arm it could be tightened enough to hold them all up with the added leverage off of a wall mount?

In my opinion, fishing wire is the best flight stand there is. If you can't use it on your shelving, Yeti stands are the best option.

Hey Yeti any way you guys take requests for specific adapters? Some big bots that are super dynamic like Maketoy's two Starscreams need a robot mode adapter so they can pose in the air. I haven't found a stand that can do it well.

I think you should take a different approach. The wall mount has three mounting points. From the top and bottom, use an XL arm, elbow, and flight adapter. On the bottom, you may need an extra yetistand arm to give you the distance off the wall. On the center mount, use an extra yetistand arm, elbow, XL arm, elbow, 2nd elbow, and flight adapter.

If you use my configuration, I think you'd need to swap the Dual Arm for the Knuckle, then use an elbow, and XL arm or extra yetistand arm to go back to the wall mount. I dont know if one of the mount points on the wall mount can take all that weight and not droop, as I havent used the wall mount yet. It may require two arms from the wall mount to a modified form of my configuration, and at that point, I think it's time to rethink the config.

As I've mentioned before, the weight distribution is the biggest factor. Can all that weight hang off one mount point on the wall mount? I dunno. Seems iffy. Can that weight hang off all three mount points on the the wall mount? Yeah, I think it can without any problems. Based on the pics on Yeti's page, each mount point looks to be carrying the weight of a seeker or more.

That's a great response. The hardest part for the wall mount is when the weight is 90° out from the pivot. That is a lot to ask the rubber washer to deal with. If you secure it above, or below the pivot it will have an easier job with the weight. That being said, here is a PG Gundam on a single XL arm being held up by an early wall mount.

I have the somewhat unreasonable idea of putting Iron Factory’s Bruticus on a Stand. @Chaotic Yeti, do you think the 1/6 figure clamp would do the trick? Also, is the Kite etching the full figure and the SMS just the head?

The 1/6 adapter would probably do it. If it doesn't, I will make you something that does. Your comment on the etching is a good one. Kite: Macross U.N. Spacy logo. SMS: Macross Frontier SMS logo. I should clarify that better on the webstore, and I apologise for the confusion.

I do like the Yeti face etching, if you’d consider adding that as an option. Though, I’d figure there’d be more of a clamor for Autobot and Decepticon faction symbols, and maybe The Lightning Strike Coalition, The Heralds Of Unicron The Wreckers and some other third parties. But, @Chaotic Yeti, I think the G2 Faction symbols were also a welcome revision, if you’re looking to expand the possible etchings.

Moreover, thank you for the offer to CAD up some goodness.

I’m planning on making Slipstream (Shrike’s Feather) the Shop Stewardess of the Iron Factory Combaticons for my shelf canon, so I’d also get some other acrylic dodads and a 5mm peg for her stand attachment... assuming she comes with one. Still, I’m looking towards doing this in the spring, when there’s a lull in the releases that have my interest.

Lastly, I think I left Frontier after 5 or 6 episodes, so I didn’t have enough attachment to catch that! I kinda doubt I’d get anything from 7 or Plus—besides a possible reissue of Master Made’s SDF1 and some SD Veritechs, but it’s nice to know all the same. Maybe if Bandai reprinted or put out a new Ideon, The Ide Gauge would be cool too, but I’m not sure I’d take it upon myself to do the work of painting so it has the green sheen of Bulma’s Dragon Radar to seal the deal :p

I'm interested with your stands. I have a lot of transformers combiners that needs a base to hold on. Because of their stability issue, I need something to keep them standing and not falling over. As well, there is Gcreation Shuraking which is 43cm in height and is very very heavy when combined. I need something to hold him up too. This guy is so heavy that I can't get him to stand without him topping over. Any suggestions would help to know what I can get from you.

Yeti stands are beautifully engineered, but I would do things a bit different given weight restrictions. Sometimes you have to give up 360 degree precision to be able to lock certain angles *hint.

My qualifications: Worked for aerospace company engineering slip rings for the military.

Bringing back the post but are Yeti stands still a thing? The webpage isn't working and I'm interested in grabbing a pair for my seekers in anticipation of the new 2.0 mold being my future go-to for bot modes.

Maybe @Chaotic Yeti who designs and sells the Yeti stands can give the best answer to this.

That site hasn't been working for months. I was trying frequently from March to April and periodically since then and it's always down for updating or something. I just looked a couple of weeks ago and like you, nadda. Still hoping they come back, but it might be awhile yet.
