I just recently listened to the NYTF brand panel interview with the design team. They said they deliberately matched up a non-toy fan favourite with a 84/85 Autobot, to make the decision hard for fans.

Given the numbers counted up in this thread, I am not sure they could have learnt much as the numbers were not massive. It does look like fans were only paying minimal attention to the Autobot character in the pairing.

However, I am pretty sure now that we will likely see Spinister and Needlenose, albeit with some sort of Cybertronian alt modes.

:(  I like my Impactor being Autobot. The only defectors I like are Jetfire and Drift.

If they are going to make a figure of Jazz that turns into this.

There is a repaint they could do from that figure already.

This. I resorted to getting the RID Ratchet and RID Origins Drift, because we haven't got Generations figures that look like that and these are the closest to that right now. Then there's IDW Rodimus, I'd even double dip on a Cyclonus if they were to make IDW Cyclonus. Roller would also be nice and Rung. Maybe some other guys like Froid, Ambulon, Pharma, Sunder, Thunderclash, Fulcrum, Anode, Mistress of Light, etc. Or accessories like Hunter O'Nyon, Verity and Jimmy (preferable in size to Raoul from MP Tracks), Arcee in red and white like she appeared first in the old Robots in Disguise comics, Rumble and Frenzy as sleek motorcycles, etc. There's sooo much potential there. They could just cancel the second line they are usually making that is accompanied by a cartoon and make one line Generations like they are doing and the other then is the IDW line. And maybe make a cartoon based on that. Just like they made a cartoon based on the Marvel comics. They had similar premises, yet different. So they could basically make a cartoon that is IDW light. But better than machinima...

So many ideas what they could do...

Well, if they make Beast Wars characters in cybertronian modes, maybe I finally can get my official Lio Convoy that turns into a Liger Zero in Deluxe Class (or of not possible in that size, I'd take a Voyager...). That'd be great =)

I think they should try to go for some characters like Jhiaxus, Cryotek, and maybe a 2.0 Straxus. Cybertronian characters all the way and in each case MAYBE active at the dawn of the Great War.

Cryotek in particular seems like someone you could seed into the early backstory to setup Beast Wars better. And, bonus, he’s generally a Shockwave retool in Cybertronian form.

I really hope they have looked at the Marvel comics and not just the G1 cartoon.

The Thunderclash kit(s) from Renderform/Reprolabels do a really good job - at least for someone not attached to the character in any way - and have the bonus of giving me a reason to pick up that white Optimus from TR (?) or was it CW?

That alt mode is a giant dual action space dildo. No thanks.

Nothing to do with it, which is why a few of us wished Hasbro wasn't as lazy when naming this event. It could have been something as simple as "The War for Cybertron" or "A War for Cybertron".

Like you, I too love the FoC/WfC designs. In fact, it was that series that got me collecting again.

I share that dream. Not just him either, those Zoids would make awesome animal modes. I never understood why a zoids/tf crossover never happened. Takara makes both right?

Same story with me. I'm kind of excited at the prospect of a WFC line of just cybertronian modes. Just not looking forward to the endless OPs and Seekers that pad out every line

Fair point; I just think there's still a likelihood that - given what one of the designers said in a quote about liking Wheeljack's Cybertronian design - we could see that alt-mode. But I could be wrong.

I kinda doubt they waste designs. Maybe we'll see more potp evolution type bodies in wfc. So like you say, we'll probably see something like wheeljack if we don't get him proper.

Actually, was the vote about a toy or just a story event? (edit. I meant this as a question but forgot the ?)

The toy picks, from how I understand it; that said, there's no reason they couldn't decide to ask IDW to write "The Untold Impactor vs. Mirage Fight," or something.

I swear, people are going to die of alcohol poisoning playing the "ask if WFC has anything to do with the game" drinking game....

I think we should call this WfC and Not WFC just so not to confuse this one with the game.

Honest Question: When Hasbro announced "War for Cybertron" at Toy Fair, did they say it was *that* War for Cybertron? The only coverage I've been able to revisit speculates that it'd mean pre-Earth forms.

What if it's "War for Cybertron" in the sense that we've got a new Matrix Bearer in Primal and the chaos that brings leads to war between the factions again.

'War for Cybertron is an up-close, gritty, three-part look at the battle for the fate of Cybertron. These are beloved and familiar events from Transformers lore told through the eyes of the heroes and villains in a story of conflict and consequence, where in order to gain what you want, you must be willing to lose everything you have.'

'beloved and familiar events' makes me think we're going back to the war

As far as Primal as a Matrix Bearer my understanding of POTP (let me know if I'm wrong, I'd love to be wrong) is that he has A matrix not THE matrix. So all the leader class toys are Matrix leaders. Basically we voted for a toy, not any canon fiction (which was what I thought)
