Congrats on reacquiring this essential figure, Daddytron! Glad someone else noticed about the axes, too!

Picked up a pair from HLJ. These recent reissues seem to really have problems with paint and QC. Roller and Spike were unacceptable paint wise. Prime came with scratches on shoulders. The little nubs on back of hand were worn out in box (you have to be careful with them as they can rub off with the forearm during transformation). The trailer had stains on white paint and had painted over dust or dirt on the autobot symbol. The axe has dirt inside the mold (first time for me lol). Something really feels off with the ion blaster plastic as it feels really really flimsy. I had to shave the plate the head sits on as the flash was so bad it prevented it from sitting flush in bot mode. The chest has a pretty big gap still. The rubber on the wheels were improperly cut... Just plain horrible QC.

One change I did notice was the axe is actually curved now. When stowed in the trailer it clears the painted blue area by about a mm which was a nice touch. I didn't use the original axe much so that may not be something new. Joints feel great outside the right bicep swivel. Chrome pieces don't have much defects. The legs do work now in alt mode. Everything fits in nicely and the fuel tanks when plugged in don't split the legs back out. I dig the mold and may end up keeping this, but will try to avoid general reissues in the future though due to these glaring quality issues. Could be I'm just having horrendous luck.

Weren't the original releases from China? If I remember correctly the Hasbro MP10 was from Vietnam though so there should be no excuse for this nonsense. Real disappointment compared to Hasbro one I still have as that one didn't require any mods out of box and was half the price. I wanted to swap out that one to display this more muted prime as I feel the color matches better with the other mps but I'm not so sure now.

Its an ok piece... immediate needed mods seem par the course nowadays though sadly. Still worth picking up if you don't have it. Just hope you have better luck.

I opened up my MP-10 today and everything seems nice except the paint on Spike's arms does not match his face at all. Anybody else have one like that?

Edit: I was able to find a video review of the reissue and it looks like this guy has a Spike painted just like mine. It shows up around 5:30. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_g9VPNyj8Q

Mine has that too. I would never have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out lol. Oh well, if my MP has to have an unsightly paint issue that's the one I would pick.

Trucker's arms. It adds realism. I think mine's the same.

MP-10 is what this hobby is all about. Can't walk by him without picking him up and at least looking at him.

I got one from HLJ simply because I'm paranoid about breaking my Hasbro and not because I prefer the TT deco better. But hey if I'm getting a second might as well be the TT.

So after contemplating on leaving my MP 10 Takara reissue sealed to get a more detailed KO version, I bit the bullet and cracked him open.

It was nice to see my Prime didn't have a lot of the QC issues (bent ears, legs that didn't tab, loose shoulder joints). However, I do have the issue with one of the chest panels not shutting securely so I'll try to shave down that upper, clear plastic part behind the window.

I have already replaced the eyes with Nonnef's light blue set and replaced his hands with the the Eness hands, but messed both up by stressing the plastic by using the wrong screw in the middle hole. (Already ordered some Tamiya acrylic paint to touch them up)

I definitely want to give it a try and paint the lights at least. Has anyone given it a crack? I need to work on my painting skills.

Seriously! Hes ridiculously fun to play with. So much nicer to mess with than mp01. Dont get me wrong i still love mp 01 cause i paid a very cheap price (30$) because of a conputer error at toys r us. But this guy is just perfect! I kinda wish he had double jointed elbows. Also having a full cab and trailer optimus is something ive been missing since i watched the original cartoon as a kid. So havung this guy and all my other mp bots just its such a great toom accurate display. Cant believe i didnt pick him up back in the day.

Congrats! He's a wonderful figure and a joy to own.

On a side note, it's funny to hit up the first few pages of this thread and see how much controversy MP-10 stirred up when he first came out, especially considering the near-universal acclaimed he receives now. He's like the "The Shining" of the TF world.

I think it comes down to the climate in your area. I have yet to get a crack on a rubber tire (knock on wood) on a figure. But I live in a dry ass desert where you would think rubber would dry out or harden and then crack. But then you see videos or photos like Optibotimus' MP-10, who I believe lives in humid SoCal, and his tires are all rotting.

Although I have never had that happen to one of my figures, this is the reason I will never ever complain about TT going with plastic tires on their MPs. The thought of, down the line, one of my favorite MPs having no tires with no easy way to replace them makes me sick. So yay plastic.

What’s a good price to pay for an Misb mp-10 with trailer? And is there an obvious way to tell if it’s a knock off or not? Also anyone remember what this set sold for when it first came out and what’s the lowest it ever sold for at retail? And one last question, looking at YouTube videos am I crazy or do the thumbs not move?

Wow $99 for the Hasbro? Including the trailer? That's a smoking deal. isn't it odd that thumbs don't move? I have MP-11 which has moving thumbs, was that the first MP that got fully articulated fingers?

Yes it was $99 at TRU with trailer. Not odd that the thumbs don't move, most MP figures have fixed thumbs.
