Hot take: if this... thing that happened? wasn't an homage to G1 toys, it would be the most widely fandom-reviled part of the entire Prime Wars trilogy. The compromises it requires in both figures, to reach kiiiiind of a combined jet mode if you squint real hard... hoo boy. Every third post would be something like, "I've been waiting for years for an update to these figures, and Hasblow just had to shit all over it with their gimmicks."

Lol that saga had quite a lot of memorable moments of ‘robotic carnage’.... in that same issue topspin’s head is blown off by Megatron after he says ‘hey, it’s just megatron.. not nearly as powerful as Galvatron’...and you can see his body still standing, twitching as Megatron counters ‘powerful enough for you Topsin, powerful enough for all of you!’ (Or something along those lines... gotta say, 90% of the time I spend posing these generations figures is reenacting all this glorious comic stuff in some way

 

Optimus Prime is dead and the Autobot Matrix of Leadership along with the Enigma of Combination have been taken, Hot Rod, the Chosen One of the ancient phrophecy has been corrupted and turned to the side of evil, there are no Chosen Primes left to face the impending doom that shall soon descend upon the world and threaten not only Cybertron but the very Universe itself.

Starscream was but a small pawn in a grand scheme and Megatronus was only the face in front of the curtain, there are far darker forces at play that have yet to be revealed.

The Darkness is coming and there seems to be no one left who can stop it, without a Chosen Prime not even the Matrix can keep it from consuming Cybertron and plunging the Universe into chaotic darkness.

But according to legend there may yet be another, for legends tells that in the darkness there is still a small light of hope that burns and that hope is believed to be Optimus Primal, he may be our last hope to stand against the descending Darkness that threatens to consume everything.

But is Optimus Primal truly the one of legend? Is he the next Chosen One? Can he unlock the power of the Matrix and Light our Darkest Hour?

 

Furman went hell for leather on that one. it didn't hit the giddy heights of Target:2006 or Legacy of Unicron, but Time Wars was so fucking exciting when it was coming out. My detolfs are all arranged according to TF:UK stories (Wreckers, Cyberton Seven, Distant Thunder, Dinobot Hunt) so I totally relate to posing the figures in loving tribute.

I suppose with Topspin being headmaster now, you can reenact that scene of Megatron blowing his head of!

 

Has anyone else noticed the somewhat subtle presence of Unicron in POTP? Especially with Rodimus Unicronus and his Cards, could Unicron be the real big bad behind Megatronus? Look up in the sky on the Primal art, I really hope we get a payoff here.

Can someone post some pictures of potp dreadwind and/or blackwing together with just Ginrai itself from perfect effect PC-16 perfect combiner set? I'd like to see the scaling, thank you!

 

I like to imagine everyone in this scene going in all high-energy, except Dreadwind dragging his heels and saying, "Uch, fine."

 

I finally opened my last 3 dinotbots and MAN did hasbro drop the ball on the size of these guys. They should have been leader class... would have been great stand-ins for masterpiece. They went all the way as to keep the transformations mostly the same, but they are sooo small!!!! ehgh

 

Gee, it's like you only just found out they were deluxe class.  

 

I wouldn't want to be the Hasbro employee who pitches "five $50 figures, all the same color scheme."
