The story snippet explains it. That this is before the mercenary group known as the Wreckers joined the autobots. Mirage had to convince Impactor to get them to join. So it seems this is also back to potentially the original faction designations of early in the war/before the war started. At least the G1 like origins of the factions where the Decepticons were a military faction. Which would explain why Impactor and his mercenary group The Wreckers are all Decepticon insignia. They are military/former military, and G1 toon lore would mean they'd have that faction symbol then. Which further pushes the toys away from IDW or aligned/the original WFC. Since in Aligned, Autobot was created by Orion/Optometrix and Decepticon was created by Megatron. In that it was the caste system and they were all Cybertronians since there were no factions. No clue how IDW had Autobots originally forming. In G1 lore, Autobots were factory/laborers and other civilian areas while Decepticon meant military. Then season 3 expanded on that even more with the autobot rebellion against the Quintessons and the other history of how far back the Decepticons and Autobots have been fighting that predates Optimus/Orion. They seem to be leaning more on the "War Dawn" and "Secret of Omega Supreme" and "Fire in the sky" aspect of the history though where Decepticons were considered the military and Megatron was who turned that into seeking full planet control. G1 wasn't exactly consistent. Like Skyfire doesn't know what Decepticons are at all since he was lost on an exploration mission before the war started and before a military unit was created at all as Starscream says in Skyfire's introduction episode. That's also where we learn that Starscream was an exploratory researcher before becoming a Decepticon. Which also creates inconsistencies to the season 3 expansion of how long the war had gone on for. Which would also fit to the Seekers overall as being scout recon/former researchers as a newly formed planetary military would look to volunteers or pull in officers from other areas as they form their ranks and fit their logistical needs. In earth parallels, Guardian Robots would be like the national guard. Decepticons would be the Army/Air Force/Navy(which includes the Marines, and likely mercenary groups too probably includes FBI/CIA type agencies too, though police would likely be Autobot/Civilian as that'd be tied to Guardian Robots likely too which became Autobot after the Quintessons left), and Autobots themselves are the civilians and law enforcement. Defensor/The Protectobots further suggests that too. That Rescue services/Police were Autobot factions, while Bruticus/the Combaticons were Decepticons, and were Decepticons before the war as they were imprisoned for war crimes so severe that they were still held in lockup even after Megatron turned to taking over Cybertron(suggesting that Shockwave was trying to maintain some semblance of the previous military system and rulings even when the Autobot v Decepticon war started). Megatron mentions that Guardian Robots fought against the Decepticons too in the War Dawn episode, so that's why I assume they'd fall under the same jurisdiction aspects as law enforcement as autobots. I wonder if that means after Predaking that Omega Supreme is likely next since he's a Guardian Robot. And if so, wonder if that means we'll see Omega Sentinel released somehow.
im kind of hoping we get an updated/cartoon accurate version of Jet Storm from Beast Machines, like we did with Tankor. An Obsidian and Striker cartoon accurate versions would be nice too. They got cybertron modes so why not !
If we don't get this version of Wheeljack with WFC than there wont be an appropriate theme to release him.
All the other polls lent themselves to a single production. You're not going to have more than one fan creation, more than one titan for the year, or more than one Autobot leader. Deluxes are the bread and butter of the product, so we can have all the losers, just not in the same wave or tied by whatever story thing they're working on. Look, I just really want Needlenose and Spinister.
No clue on Jet Storm, that'd be cool though! Obsidian and Striker seem possible though. Didn't Beast Machines say something about how they were originally from the Autobot vs Decepticon era which is why Megatron chose them for new Vehicon generals knowing they'd be loyal to his Decepticon like goals? Rodimus and Optimus were in the same wave of POTP. Both in leader class. Won't count Optimal/Primal since he's Maximal. And I'd assume all the deluxes can happen in the same year or any part of the trilogy. Deluxe figures as you said are the bread and butter of the line, and they have to fill out 3 years with this theme per their own statement of it as a trilogy. I think we may still get Needlenose and Spinister. This seems deliberately about who the fans would want to see in a vs box. With the rest likely to see release as single carded figures for the theme. Could be wrong. But assuming they already started production/engineering to meet results by the end of this year for store shelves, it's possible all 6 are already along in development and this had more to do with packaging for which of the 6 got the VS two pack. Usually takes about a year in development. POTP ends this year. Whatever they got coming next is likely well underway already or farther along than we know.
Little surprise here. A single mention of just one of the Wreckers, especially Impactor, and every IDW fan goes crazy, crazier than if you mention the Scavengers, it seems.
To their credit, Impactor has been something of a fan-favorite since he appeared in the Marvel UK comics and the IDW comics made him a rather compelling character. And his only toys were mere redecos of previously made toys, albeit with different heads. So getting his own figure that's its own mold is a pretty big deal. At least, that's how I see it. Btw, did they establish if the 2-packs will be 2 deluxes or the sizes of the figures haven't been specified?
What video are you watching? The winner video doesn't say anything about a 2 pack. That also contradicts ToyFair info. Toy Fair 2018 - Hasbro Entertainment Brand Preview, including Transformers: Studio Series, Generations, War for Cybertron, Fan Poll #HasbroToyFair #NYTF
I\'mj already loving the direction of the next trilogy of generations. I voted for the Cybertronian Wheeljack but all of them were good choices (Wheeljack is my second favorite Transformer so I was biased). I look forward to Impactor especially. I honestly haven\'t read any of the comics he\'s in but I dig his character and design.
I would have preferred if they did a Decepticon 3 pack with impactor spinster and needlenose but oh well
While I totally agree with what you’re saying, I actually don’t think any of these characters could have been released sooner... After Trypticon, the 2 losing Titan characters wouldn’t have fit in to the PotP ‘Combiner’ gimmick (I always said it’d be Predaking, after Devastator he was the next logical choice) anyway, there was no way to fit them in this year. I think Omega is a perfect fit for the NEXT Titan spot in WfC2 though, it’s just a shame we can only get 1 of these a year! As for us not having a Voyager/Ultra Star Saber, Thunderwing etc, they were all in the same poll that Primal won. There was no way we would/could have had them released before Primal, & we don’t know any after he’s released yet. The next line could literally have all the losing finalists from the last poll (and I think a good few, eg Star Saber & the like, are nailed on here too) So don’t despair guys, Generations has been round for years & if your vote hasn’t come up yet, it doesn’t mean it won’t come soon!
