Oh, God! 

It is drybrushing painting technique. I learned it recently for my Sideswipe costume and it is really time-consuming and quite hard thing. I hope, this majesty will not rise the price sufficiently! It's a bit sad, that backdrop isn't from Wulong. But it's likely because in this case Grimlock would look not very contrasting. He still had a bit of bronze on him!

 

I'm still going to get it, but man am I disappointed by Grimlock now that I know how his transformation works...



By making the robot legs the dino legs, a ton of bulk is lost in dino mode is lost to the legs. Though the faux shoulder pad does seem to be a thing on the actual CGI model, so... Still, robot mode is great.

But if you ask me, the voyager is still rather accurate in terms of transformation. Just look at the 0:15 second mark.

 

Also, for those who say Battle Blade Prime doesn't look good or pose well:

 

took me a while to figure out where the second head ends up in dino mode, looks like it folds inside out and sits near the base of the tail

Well now I don't think I can pass on grimlock he looks DAMN good.* Props on that factory dry-brushing too Hasbro...
And I can't tell much from the dino pics, but I'd bet the mace hand could be modified and replaced with an actual hand too, provided it be covered. I see a lot of customs coming from this in the future.
*Edit: Not too sure now... I don't like the mace hand that much because in the concept it's meant to be a regular mace, but viewed directly from the top.

Whoa... Not very flattering. On second thought I think I need to see videos of this guy.

 

It looks like the mace is what unfurls into the tails tip. There's a chance that it's pinned in so it may be hard to do a part swap. Would be nice if its not pinned though

 

I haven't read the whole thread, but has anyone mentioned that it appears that the back of Grimlock's dino head appears to be hollow? Like you could stick your finger in his mouth and poke the tip out the back of his skull? Hope I'm wrong.

 

Actually the part with his dino arms makes up the robots left arm. It may be just dangling there like you're suggesting, but I see some extra mass behind it that I don't think belongs to the far dino leg. So I think that part pegs into the robot fist to secure the arm. but it still is pretty gappy there

 

Shoot, you might be right. It does look like the mace is hollow from underneath in dino mode.
I'm waiting for a video review to really judge.

It really is impressive. Was hoping to see that the rex legs could be made more digitigrade, but I'll live.

While the posability isn't in question, how does that video refute those who say the figure doesn't look good?

The chest is still wide and huge, the backpack oversized, and the legs are thin and spindly. In fact amusingly the new Studio Prime's proportions are very close to the HFTD Voyager.

But man is that truck mode on Battle Blades nice.

I’m so out of the loop. Are these figures going to be available in stores and if so when?
