Pass, especially when KBB somehow managed to release a few really fun transforming model kits, these would be boring in comparison.

Are these things diecast? Can’t see how it can be so expensive without them.

300 Dollars for non-transforming Transformers that I have to assemble myself?

Do I have to go online and print out the instructions on my own printer and paper, too?

The box is at least pre-assembled, right?

Probably not. Better bring your own tape and glue.

    NO

There are two different lines here: the model kits and the Kuro Kara Kuri figures. The Kx3 line so far is Drift, Star Saber, and Tarn. The G1 model kit line is Prime, Starscream, Bumblebee, and Hound.

We don't have pricing on the model kits yet, and just a few preorder prices on Drift (that are $300), so probably not super expensive things you have to build yourself. I would expect the model kits to be similarly priced to other Gundam-type model kits.

Starscream looks cool, but no thanks. I just don't see TFs as models. Gundam, of course, and even Macross. But TFs? Doesn't feel right nor seems it would appeal to most TF collectors, in part because model collectors are a different breed (not that there can't exist some overlap, obviously).

Here's the thought, although I understand it doesn't apply to all:

"If" anime/original toy accuracy, genius/originality/complexity of transformation, and solid/integral quality construction and articulation, are values we hold in selecting our TFs, then something like these models, IMO, fails miserably from the start.

That being said, I'm a very proud owner of a non-transforming Generations MAS-1, and he is godlike. Likely because he satisfies most of the above criteria despite not transforming (and he's massive).

$300 USD is an absurd price unless these are literally made of die cast, or are massive. Any idea of scale for these? If Bandai can produce approx. 6"-7" figures, some in die cast, for literally about a third of the price of that Drift, I can't see how they expect these to sell, unless they're in another size class entirely. That said, I absolutely need that Tarn, my god. I've loved his character from the get go, so having a representation of him for my 'Cons (since Hasbro hates the DJD for whatever reason) would be great.

I'm definitely up for some TF model kits. I've been having an action master itch for a long time and these will help scratch that. My only complaint is that they probably won't do more obscure characters but whatever.

It looks like the model kits are 1:144 scale, so if they\'re anything like gundam, theyll be in the $20 - $30 range. If they\'re anything like the 1:144 high grades of gundam, with a little panel lining and a little paint, these things will look very slick on a shelf.

I saw the drift model for sale at Wonderfestival, by a private vendor. It was about 300 Dollars. I was even allowed to touch it, but I refused (I didn't want to break a 300 dollar figure).

I suspect that Drift is already for sale?

Sigh, I want to like these things so much more. I did the stylized looks and if they were any other brand they'd be on my wishlist, but being transformers I always feel something was lost.
