If this is proof of your claim that @Fuhzimota used bad examples to bash the movie-verse characterizations, then you're way off.

For anyone that actually watched the original series, Hound was the first audience touchstone. He was the first Scout, a bot that loved and appreciated Earth and humanity for being so different and organic, as compared to Cybertron.

He used his holograms to sneak around places, not :bay  everything he saw.

He was probably the best 'friend' to the humans before Bee was given that role (Bee's scale made it easier to draw him hanging out with people).

The bastardization of Hound's character in the movies is almost perfect proof that the movie characters had zero depth. They had a chance to use a robot character who grappled with wanting to be human, and instead used him as a walking one-liner.

Good riddance to movie Hound (IronBulkheadhide), and the whole damn series.

Wouldn't be much of a reboot then, would it?

We were never getting that movie. It was just an idea thrown about.

Thank goodness a reboot is happening within my lifetime. And hope bay is ousted from ever touching the franchise again. The quality of every movie since 1 has just gone down big time. I was no longer looking forward to another movie. Hope the reboot and new director make a less cheesy movie and more true to the franchise mythods.

I should’ve been clear. It’s the aesthetic that is the defining characteristic of the bay transformers designs. With that I specifically mean the articulating and moving eyeballs/optics, prime’s humanoid jointed metallic alien humanoid face (but not drift’s face. Drift’s face just went overboard and over-the-top), the photo realism of metal parts, the seamless transformation that really amazed me when I first saw it, particularly barricade’s first transformation.

I’m sure, under a new director with vision, the aesthetic would be better. But the bay aesthetic is the baseline for me and should be from here on out.

What's funny is how bad most people are gonna be disappointed when these designs, movies come out. It'll be the Bay movies All over again. They'll never pick the right director, the right plot, the right robot designs, just wait..................

As I was talking to a TRU employee in her 20's the other day about the new Transformers figures, at one point she commented, "If it's not Optimus Prime or Bumblebee I don't know their names haha."

Apt depiction of the current state of the zeitgeist.

Sorry for the people that like the movies, but I for one couldn't stand the designs. I remember seeing the first movie in theaters with friends of mine that had Transformers when they were little (and remembered the cartoon) and all of them asked me if these were supposed to be the same characters. All of them thought they looked like bugs. Other than the designs, I did like the first movie, but I really lost interest after the third.

Excellent news. Looks to me like we could even count the Bumblebee movie as a prequel that gives us a solid 6 movie series. I don't think anyone wanted an entire cinematic universe based on Michael Bay's take of the Transformers. Done.

I'll echo those on here who have had the courage to let their purist show in that I sincerely hope we're looking at a more intelligent and G1 inspired movie universe to come.

Anyone else feeling a bit nervous about Generations not getting any mention? I hope they're not going to cancel the line just when it's been getting so good...

I agree fully. People complained non-stop about the designs of the first three movies for being too insectoid and being made of grey scrap metal. Now people complain non-stop about the newer designs being too human.

Ditto to the action. People complained about the blurry action early on in the series. The action actually got clearer as time went on. Now some fans I have seen complaining that the newer action "isn't intense enough," which I guess means it's not shaky and blurry enough?

The biggest complainers about the current movies are often fans of the earlier movies who complain that the current movies aren't enough like the earlier films. Many Bay fans are really no more open to change than the G1 fans well before them, and I say that as a fan of both the Bay movies and G1.

The reboot, regardless of quality, will not unite the fandom. We're at a point in the brand's history where absolutely nothing will unite all, or even a large majority, of fans. It will just draw new battle lines, but like I say it should be less about unity and more about accepting differences with grace.

Agreed fully. The concepts of the brand themselves are ridiculous. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Bumblebee movie can’t possibly be a reboot since Bee design is still too similar with the bay bumblebee. Bay
Can we get Prowl or Chase and Barricade in the reboot? Good cop, bad cop?

    Bye Bye Bay Bay!

I'm a G1 kid, not gonna keep that secret. Love that iteration of the franchise more than any other. I tried to give the Bay movies a shot, the first was OK to me, but I was bored halfway through the second and didn't bother to see any of the others. The Bayformers franchise just means nothing to me, I don't hate it but I can generally look right at the product from it and not care at all that it exists. Not going to miss seeing it clog the shelves at the local Walmarts though.

Thank God. Put gasoline over it, throw the rest of Bay's surplus explosives on it, and light a fuse.

Stories with zero depth with characters that look like crumpled tin foil blowing in the wind will not be missed by this fan.

Hopefully, they've been studying how Marvel makes movies, or how some of the best IDW stories were constructed. Give the characters personalities, ones that connect with the audience. Don't do "one-liner machines" or stupid stereotypes. And for God's sake, make them visually distinct from one-another. Put some color in there.
