Easy, tiger - it's a business, hence the big H is obviously going to focus on the biggest available markets. Other regions have regularly been, how shall we say, "overlooked" since the year dot where TF is concerned, so nothing new to see here. Same pieces on the board, just a slightly different strategy.

And you'd know more than the man at the top how, exactly? Psychic powers? Radioactive underwear? Just pulling shit out of thin air?

On a more sensible level (yeah, I know), here's hoping for a nice big juicy Predaking reveal sometime over the next 48 hours. :thumb

Well, around here it's the generations pegs that empty out quick so they must be selling well. I'd be surprised to see it end or change too drastically.

Still, Hasbro is running out of G1 characters to update so maybe the line will reboot into Cyberverse. I hope not. I think Hasbro made a similar mistake by ending the Star Wars vintage collection which flew off the shelves until the overproduces Episode I waves. Since then, Star Wars action figures have not sold as well. Now TVC is coming back.

toyfair still has 2 days to go.

Perhaps after 2021, they may take a break and focus on Power Rangers now that they acquired the license to.

Kind of worried about Transformers Generations. With the decreasing ingenuity and increasing haphazardness of the line, I was ready to either replace it or hope for a better future. Cyberverse is clearly not for me, and Hasbro mentions nothing of the Generations line in the preview?

Still looking forward to the red leaves falling on a breezy day as I acquire a new Shockwave this autumn.

We\'ll see in a few days but Toy Fair 2018 looks to me to be the end of Hasbro. Did you see the $200 augmented reality Hot Wheels set? What\'s the FOB on that $12? I guess like LED lights, \"augmented reality\" and motors add $150 to the MSRP.

Power of the Primes is the last we\'ll see of Generations. It might also be the end of quality mainline toys.

Shopkins and other $.05 \"toys\" that retail for up to $2 each have enabled the teams who work on them to operate at OBSCENE margins. The suits see that and tell other product managers that they need to increase their margin. So we get a $30 Megatron toy with no elbows that looks worse than a dollar store knockoff.

Cyberverse will become the main toyline. It took a few years but Transformers has finally gone down the Star Wars figure road. No articulation and garbage quality for 25% more money.

The collector market will be the Studio Series, the Transformer version of Black Series. Higher prices and fancy packaging to hide that you are paying $25 for something you bought for $12 a few years ago. Hasbro will probably pull G1 style designs into the Studio Series over the next few years.

In the end, sales will crater and push more kids to video games. I won\'t be buying Cyberverse garbage at the prices Hasbro is pushing.

yep, Hasbro has the license to make Power Rangers toys in 2019 now.
There is no way Power Rengers will profit as much as Transformers, the appeal is not as strong I think.

You gotta love the optimism with this fandom lol. ;) :) .

There's nothing to say generations is ending. I have a feeling that the next line after potp will possibly be connected to post Unicron.

So maybe they want to surprise us.

They can reboot the movie universe by starting in the current universe with Prime and Bee (cause, ya know, really only bots left that aren't Bay cannon fodder) and then going to an alternate dimension/time version as the only way to save everyone/thing ala X-men Days of Futures Past. Maybe that is how Unicron is explained/defeated type thing without killing everyone on Earth/Unicron. Reboot within same continuity accomplished.

This was the investor part of Toy Fair...they dont normally talk about much of anything other than NEW initiatives...so an ongoing line like Generations isn't going to get the press...

I'm amazed by the Power Rangers announcement though and wonder what it means for the line...i collect the DX robots but wonder if they will import the Japanese Bandai toys for the line...

But the tv series (in a non-movie year) has always been the ‘main’ line. Generations has always been a side line, it’s just by its very nature the line that most people on here are interested in. I wouldn’t write off Generations quite yet. The Studio Series still comes under the Generations banner, but I don’t see it replacing Generations proper. If anything it indicates that they want to appeal to collectors of Movie and non-movie figures equally. Perhaps, though, Generations should expand beyond G1 and drop the line-wide gimmicks.

Cyberverse doesn’t come under Generations. It’s the replacement for RID. The basic evergreen figures (Authentics) do come under Generations (though it’s not noted on the packaging) and although the designs are basically the same just in two different styles, they’re are not the same line.

No mention of Generations, because I'm guessing PotP is the last line for Generations as we know it.

They've been slowly decreasing figure quality over the last 4-5 years. Thrilling 30 was pretty darn good. CW was okay, but introduced us to the Repaint Wars. Titans Return technically gave us updates of a lot of characters, and while many figures might have had good overall aesthetics, it's undeniable that the designs at a technical level were getting more and more simple. PotP Is pretty uninspired so far, except for Legends figures. And those stickers, damnit... The quality has been approaching RiD levels, cheaper and cheaper. The quality is so close to this new Cyberverse line, that it seems to be the natural progression of things.

You read the comments about Cyberverse, and there is plenty of criticism... but also way too much "hey this or that looks alright, I like it...".

Imagine if these Cyberverse figures had come out directly after Thrilling 30. Riots. in. the. streets. But we've been gradually conditioned to accept lesser and lesser figures.

    Thank god for Third Party...

And we have the Titan class Predaking coming out in the next 6 months, the biggest Transformer of the year & they didn’t even mention that. I’m not worried, like has been mentioned above it’s NEW Transformer lines that are usually mentioned at the Investor Event.

We happen to know everything that’s coming out for the next 6 months Generations wise at this point... Other than Wave 3/Predaking (and MAYBE Novastar) I wasn’t expecting we’d hear about anything new till SDCC anyway, it’s too far away for anything else.

Yes, Hasbro is going to get rid of it's strongest line in favor of one-steps. This is a decision to garner more sales.

hasbro is not getting rid of generations
