Please keep these far away from my main Generations toy line, thank you. I'm not even a fan of when they sneak current comic inspired designs into the main Generations line.

I disagree. The transformers brand has suffered from being too fractured. Unification under the strongest banner, g1, is exactly the right direction this needs to go.

 

The only one that I’m looking forward to is Shockwave. Personally I like his altmode though I understand if anyone else disagrees, my only problem with it so far is the altmode’s gun being too small. Megatron was also something I looked forward to until I saw the lack of any elbow articulations which is a shame because that cannon looks awesome. With that said I don’t really mind the toys for Cyberverse considering it’s made for kids and as long as this doesn’t negatively affect the CHUG and movie lines I’m fine fine. Though I kinda wish Hasbro would treat this toyline like TFA and TFP’s where kids and adults could enjoy them.

 

Liking and being open to buying new beast wars figures are two entirely different things.

Lol    I didn't see any posts about the plastic quality, rather, I don't even know how anyone could possibly infer what level the quality is from CG renders.

Let me just say, now that I've cooled down a little bit, that sure, this line doesn't look horrible, the big Prime toy even looks like a pretty solid and fun rendition of the big guy, but this line at it's core is a big waste. For a year-long, multiple item full-fledged toy line, why not put a bit more effort into making these new versions of the characters??? They're just unbelievably generic...   

 

I'm on both sides of this. I totally agree that they must try and bring some unity to the separate series and timelines that we have, but this does seem to teeter just a BIT too much into the "Hey collectors, look what we did to your favorite guys" territory. That said, I see no reason not to continue this direction, as long as it tries to breathe some sort of fresh air into the G1 aesthetic and continuity. I don't know if I've missed something, but I'm sot sure I understand if the show is supposed to be a G1 reimagining or an entirely new take, but a big way to lose sales, even more than making toys specifically for kids, is making toys that most likely ONLY kids will enjoy.

That's why, to me, as long as at least one size class is just a plain old articulated robot that turns into a thing, I'm fine. Gimmicks are cool too as long as they don't entirely hinder some big part of an otherwise good design. Bomber Starscream looks like he could have a really interesting and fun gimmick that might alleviate any lacks the figure might have, but if this is RiD 2.0 all over again, I can't say it will trip many triggers.

I love the new aesthetic, I just wish it didn't come at the cost of dividing such a deep fandom. It truly baffles me how apparently difficult it seems to be for Hasbro to bridge the gap between hardened superfans, fun toy collectors, and children who just want to play. As much as I like the movie toys (and not the movies), they really sort of screwed up the franchise-wide dynamic that was pretty clearly trying to be established before them.

I just feel like Hasbro is more afraid to try something new than they are to potentially turn off long standing and high spending collectors, which is not how you cater to a fandom.

 

Shockwave and Maybe Grimlock look the best of all of these. The rest look like shit. 30 dollars for an Optimus and Megatron that can\'t pull decent transformations or vehicles. What the shit Hasbro?

 

About the renders, I don't like them as much as good photos, but I DO appreciate that they are EXACTLY what we will be getting in relation to molding, colors, paint apps, etc. Beyond that, I would argue that while plastic quality has dipped a bit in recent years, since the renders have been used the plastics have gotten better. I don't recall most of the Prime Trilogy figures, RiD, or even Prime really having much truly crappy plastic, beyond a few isolated figures and incidents that were definitely QC.

 

They are not generic, they look pretty much like the promo art that we've seen from the new cartoon thus far. If anything, they should be lauded for that.

Then I guess it's a good thing that this line and the cartoon connected to it is aimed at 4-8 year old children, who aren't going to go apeshit apocalypse over CG renders.

 

Optimus\'s arms are terribel. and warriors Bumblebee is lame.

 

Going to go with my RID way of collecting things and only fully collect the Warrior class, which will probably have the most winners as far as design goes. Given my Star Wars fandom, I am a big fan of tanks with legs, though Shockwave's alt mode is not doing it for me. The turret looks neither as long or as maneuverable enough for that mode to look right. If it were the comparable size of Beast Hunters Shockwave's cannon, it would look much better. But I am a big Shockwave fan and am glad to see him show up, so I'll be picking him up anyway.

I might pick up the Ultimate class figures, which actually look pretty good.

The simplified Ultra class figures look like complete wastes of money and plastic. Being bricks in robot mode is a complete negative for me. I don't even see kids liking these. If a kid wants a big toy, I don't see why they wouldn't go for the much bigger and better looking Ultimate class. And if a kid was looking for a simple toy, the scout class lets him get a couple of them for the same cost of one of these Ultra class figures (and have more posable bot modes to boot).

I'll wait to see the proper alt-mode transformations before I decide whether I like the scout class or not, but those mid-transformation messes of additional modes are not doing the toys any favors.

 

Ok that Deluxe Optimus if awful but its ok because of the ultimate size one.

 

...it's the one Hasbro stuffs down our throats the most, certainly.
