Transformers Overboard Edition

What is Overboard Edition? It is my name for the type of customs I end up with. I tend to say "Just some detailing" only to end up with a larger repaint.

General Crankcase

Faction: Decepticon
Role: Merciless/Blackmailing Tyrant

Bio: Sometimes this tyrant is confused for his taking his twin brother, Crankcase. He took this name in honor of his deceased brother.
He recieved a distress call from Dread brothers, only to never make it due to being brought down by a comet, landing on the same planet as ScorchFreeze, where he would do repairs.

Details
Crankcase originally was a Overboard Edition repaint, Now more of a restore/detail-up. I decided to restore him as I wanted to have all the Dreads(which I do not) and have them all detailed up. I am probably abandoning that project and am going to do this whole team of General Drones(My 2007 Swindle got lost so it will not be included) I mostly restored the black in Crankcase and painted the windows a metallic purple. I repainted the sirens and added colors to the front and back lights. I also added some paint to some of the pipe/suspension details. In robot mode I did essentially the same thing and I painted details where i saw fit and kinda where i wanted to. Haha. As well this was one of the first times I tried my dirty sand riden look. I used shades of yellow, brown, and beige to make it. It got a little lost in the black. Finally I also did up the weapon. I painted the trigger for the mech-tech weapon to look like a sight. I imagine it like cyber rifle with a thermal sight. The claw still functions as well. It also has been given some dry brushing.

End Result:
I was actually most pleased with this one. I love how much detail I got out of it. I do wish the dreads had not broken off. It would have brought it all together. And as well as the eyes. In the end I am really happy with it and all it's details.

Looks pretty cool! I made my Dread team out of the TLK Berserker mold. But Hasbro is coming out with a Crowbar figure later this year so you can have 2 of the 3!

 

And as far as the dreads go, you can remake them with a zipper and that way they'll be somewhat articulated

That looks great. It can kind a seems to fit more with the Berserker mold.

 

It's a retool, that's why. I'll personally be skipping it because it looks about as good as my Crowbar custom, and no point coughing up 20 more bucks for a fig when u got a poifectly good custom laying around xD

 

Thats true. That is why I no longer buy repaints. Tho TR kinda walked the line with alternate head master designs

 

Yeah, I was ok with repaints as long as they had different heads. But when you have lazy toys (Like the Hot Shot repaint of Crosshairs with the exact same head) I usually just skip them

 

That or if the robot mode is so atrociously bad it can't look good no matter how many coats of paint you throw on it (Like Evac or Lockdown)

 

Yeah. Though it seems that essentially most of PoTP is just gonna be remolds

 

The Studio series line looks like its about half and half

 

I doubt when it comes out I'll be able to find it cause my local stores havent even gotten past wave 1 prime masters or skrapnels yet. It will probably be even more difficult to locate a special line anywhere here.

 

Well the Studio Series isn't meant to be a special line. It's basically the Bumblebee toyline. But yeah, none of my walmarts have gotten past the TLK wave 2 deluxes

 

If it is the Bumblebee toyline they better be making the a Volkswagen Bumblebee and the vintage form Hot Rod has

 

The figs I remember being listed are Bee, Stinger, Crowbar, Lockdown, Ratchet, Knockout (Who will apparently be in the Bee movie),2 Jazz, Barricade, Soundwave, and Sideswipe (For the deluxes) and 2 Optimus, Megatron (ROTF), 2 Starscreams, Brawl, Ironhide, The Fallen, Shockwave, and Sentinel Prime for the voyagers. And I know we're getting a leader class Blackout and Grimlock

 

Definitely will be getting the Fallen, and Brawl. Maybe Ironhide. If Stinger is in Huayra mode then Ill pick it up. If Grimlock is improved maybe I'll pick him up. But first i got find a relatively cheap Slog to complete the Live-Action Dinobots. The rest i just gotta see. Hasbro has been known to bring old molds back just to slight remold them like Roadbuster into Lockdown.

 

Oh Stinger is BAAAAAAAAD. You'll wanna skip him.
