Otomo arrived today to join his fellow Bastards. It's no secret that my brother and I love the figures and were sold on them from the first time Sid and Nick talked about them. Being motorcyclists having transforming bikes is an easy win but these guys are just so darn playable.

Otomo is stickered up now, I kept some back but they do work really well to add some more colour

Crap. Wish I was aware of this a few years ago instead of just learning about it now.

Hope I get some kind of chance to buy Otomo somehow, other than ebay of course.

The only Kickstarter I ever backed was "Articulated Icons." I checked on the progress daily for two years til I finally had my Ninjas in hand. And all the time people would show up in threads going "Oh man these look awesome, how did I miss these?" and I thought "heh heh...sucks to be you."

Now I know how they feel. It feels......bad.

I got a bit nervous after reading complaints about the lack of taint and how it differed from the kickstarter pics. Well mine came in today and I'm relieved to see the complaints about the taint were unfounded.

I remember back at tfcon 2013 sitting across from Cassy sark hearing about all these ideas and stories for these new original characters. I loved the passion and heart of this whole idea and it really reflects in this figure. While yes the figures do have fiction to go along with them it’s great fun discovering and creating the personas for this figure and all its various looks. I can’t remember the last time I just enjoyed playing with a figure like this. I’m definitely going to get a rogue and snatch up any other versions to come in the future.

All we need now is for you skilled, creative individuals to go head and do some of that panel lining..preferably a tutorial..and life would be fantastic ;)

I feel the panel lines are quite subjective and really will differ depending on the taste of each individual. I have panel lined both a Bastard and a Spector. With the Bastard, I only did some of the more prominent lines while on the Spector I went all out Gundam on it and I am totally not happy in how the Spector turned out at all. (see the above Spector images)

I did try to get some shots together for a quick tutorial but man, my video editing skills suck. I was really not happy with the outcome so I want to do it again, just time is not on my side right now. (the Spector I did all the panel lines on while I was on a 13 hour flight from HK to Vancouver. No chance to film that. haha)

Bit of customisation. Same panel lining, ink washes and straight painting IMG_20180210_091032_762.jpg

That looks great. You know if you did some parts surgery you could easily give the Otomo some black forearms, black grill arm plates, and some black feet along from the regular basard along with the grey rider. If someone is feeling ballsy you could even swap the pinned fingers for the black ones. He'd probably come out looking even better. The resulting regular bastard with red parts would look like pants though.

Thanks I was looking to see if the black one was in stock anywhere and if TCP has it then this makes my decision easy to make.

Should be any time. Retail packages all have been shipped out from what I am told. Going to have to check with retailers on proper time of arrival.

Thanks, that's what I thought from what you had previously posted. I know TCP got their Hoppers in as mine is in my stash so these should be soon.

The more I mess around with this, the more Im liking the Prospect. There is just too much fun having such a poseable action figure bot.

Ill be ordering a seperate Brasso for sure!

I understand that the hype is on the combined mode, but Im really digging the bike & rider.

Hopefully Mayhem Mekanics will consider future integration/Vehicles/Accessories for the Prospects!

I have only opened a Rogue so far. The left shoulder socket is so weak that is cannot hold itself up if the figure is moved even slightly.

Ball/socket couplings seem to be a weak point of MAAS.

Also a little disappointed that the Prospect figure lacks paint on the visor and eyes.
