I finally figured out what doesn't look right to me on Paladin. They colored swapped him for some reason. WHat's black on the figure is supposed to be purple and what's purple is supposed to be black.

Good call. I had been unable to put my finger on it too, but he definitely looked off. But that's it. You know it's so that they can put the "correct" one in an SDCC set or something. I'd be really pissed, you know, if I actually cared about Paladin. If he didn't come with a BAF part, I'd probably skip him unless he dropped below $10. As it stands, I ordered a case because I hate wasting time and gas fruitlessly hunting.

    I love this figure

I'm normally not onboard to pay 50 dollars for these 12" figures but I make an exception for the X-Men. So glad I got this guy too, he is so amazing I just hate how difficult it is to swap the parts around.

Now Hasbro what will it take to make a 12" Rogue?

Judging by history, a 12" Phoenix is more likely. I didn't really like the Icons versions so hopefully Hasbro would do better this time around.

Icons Phoenix was freakishly skinny. Hasbro/Gentle Giant seems to have a far better grasp of female anatomy and proportion than the Toybiz team did.

The body was extremely thin, but portrait on Icons Phoenix was really nice, probably the best female head sculpt Toybiz ever did. Wouldn't mind an updated version though.

Oh they definitely do. Toy Biz prioritized articulation over everything else and tried to take the eyes off exposed joints by intricately sculpting detail and paint washing the hell out of it. I don't miss their long ankle hinges nor huge ball joints and 45 degree hips. Some of the portraits looked decent but some were too exaggerated.
Which parts did you have trouble with, the shoulder pads?

The hard part was swapping the heads, taking off the head attached in package was easy but then attaching the yelling head, I'm still not sure its properly attached to the balljoint.

Yeah, I really want a new Surfer. The blasted thing is that not even my sources have seen a prototype of him...arrgghh...

I hope the new Surfer buck will be taller...I'll buy multiples of him.

I really enjoyed Ron Lim and Jim Starlin's run on the Surfer...it re-introduced a lot of the classic cosmic characters. We had cool fights between Surfer and the Super Skrull, vs Ronan the Accuser etc.

Thanos (I wanted to drop a hint that the movie version was bald but it slipped me) was also re-introduced in the above run. The comic was so popular, the Surfer even had an animated series with him beating Thanos in the unreleased second season.

After that, the quality of the comic just dropped off and Surfer was reduced to 'jobber' statues i.e. whoever beat him was the next big thing.

May Galactus devour you! Just kidding!!!

I got to agree with you...we should get the Thing and complete the FF first before we get any of the FF based characters. I would like to see Doom next, followed by Surfer and Super Skrull...hopefully, we get a more classic Ronan...

BAF...how about the Supreme Intelligencw?! But I think he's too obscure.

The different coloured head really throws me off...if it was red like the body, it would be perfect.

LOL! Good use of the terms BAF. I must admit that I was disappointed that some of the BAFs have been regular size.

I agree with your choices but for Galactus...the Marvel Universe one is bigger and also very well sculpted.

Beat me to it! but I think the colours you refer too are his classic colours...I think in some of his appearances, he has the ML colours?

My other issue is the 'armor'...it should be like "puffy" or 'bulkier' with "stripes-like" padding etc. Maybe I'm too used to the way McFarlane drew him.

Just be glad Hasbro seems to have gotten away from the micro BAF, i.e. Hit Monkey, Puck, Rocket, etc. Those felt like a major ripoff.

Are we talking about the same Icons Phoenix? Her face was...alright (best ToyBiz means nothing because of Rogue)...but the hair looked terrible. I remembered wishing they'd just upscaled the series 6 sculpt instead (don't have it on hand at the moment but it may have differed from the promo shots all over the web). No complaints about the body though.

He had barely any outward hip articulation at all.

I still can't believe they did that. :lol

So it appears that the new IW Cap does still have double elbows (glad I was wrong), but it definitely has a new bicep joint construction. Mostly I'm irritated that the wrap on Cap's left arm is sculpted on, i.e. it's there even when you use the included un-gloved hands. It also means far more work if you want to use the rolled up sleeves in any kind of custom.

Still doesn’t look like Evans. E253AD82-DCAE-497E-AEE3-196A68E41716.jpeg

Honestly, it looks like Cap from one of the many comic stories in recent years where Cap is stuck in an alternate future/dimension/universe away from civilization, and thus has no choice but to grow a nicely trimmed beard. Definitely not Chris Evans, but I can see some modern Cap fans liking it.

I just want the lower arms... the rest of the figure is useless to me.
